Dimension W Episode 12: Dust in the Wind…

Dimension W’s first season has ended with episode 12, called “The Future Reached.” Mira Yurizaki tells Kyōma Mabuchi to man up. Mabuchi tries to man up. Loser fights to save his wife, who Haruka Seameyer has turned into a Frankenstein’s monster in bipedal squid form. Our heroes discover the final fate of Genesis and Seameyer’s nefarious plan. What Happened Seameyer unleashes a monster that he stitched together from Loser’s wife Sophia and parts of other humans left on his portion of the lab. Loser keeps his cool and uses his coils to open another gate directly into Seameyer’s world. Reaching in with a mechanical arm, Loser is about to yank Seameyer through the portal when Seameyer instructs the bipedal squid to shape a tentacle into a crying Sophia. Loser looses focus and gets slammed into a slab. Seameyer creates an inorganic replica of himself and attaches it to the bipedal squid. He announces that Mabuchi is his next target. Gate Episode 24: And So They Fought, Here

Gate’s 24th’s episode, “Thus They Fought,” wraps up the second season. Yōji Itami and some old friends pay a visit to Zorzal El Caesar. Lelei La Lalena demonstrates why she felt confident enough to go for her masters. And it turns out there was a lot of romance going on off camera! Warning: This review contains spoilers. Amazon has some of them here (these should be region 1; please double-check your regions!): What Happened Itami arrives in the capital and meets up with the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) who are stationed in the red light district. He learns that since the JSDF just finished a huge operation (see my review of the last episode), it would be hard for them to support a large-scale effort to rescue Princess Pina Co Lada. Itami’s way around this is to say that he’s personally accepted a request from Grey Co Aldo to rescue his princess, and that it has nothing officially to do with the JSDF. The commanding officer had anticipated this and had asked for volunteers. The entire Third Recon Team volunteered. Dimension W Episode 11: Watching Them Watch Themselves

In Dimension W episode 11, titled The Lost Genesis, Kyōma Mabuchi watches Mabuchi swipe the Genesis coil, but he forgets where he put it. Loser grabs a fifth numbered core but can’t see where Mabuchi put the Genesis coil. Mira Yurizaki continues gentle and supportive of everyone in sight. And the entire cast demonstrates a complete lack of awareness about motivating others. Note: There may be spoilers ahead. I’m not sure. It’s hard to say with this plot… What Happened Loser defeats Jason Chrysler and takes his numbered coil, bringing Loser’s total to 5. He and Elizabeth Greenhough Smith head for the center of the disturbance. Ruwai Aura Tibesti tells Mabuchi that he survived the attacks because he has multiple bodies. What remains of his living body, including his brain, is linked to a Dimension W-enabled network that lets him control these multiple bodies with no lag. Ruwai’s worried that Mabuchi will hate him, but the Grendel reassures him. Yurizaki tells Ruwai about the device that had been keeping Mabuchi unconscious. Another of Ruwai’s artificial bodies awakens Salba Ene Tibesti, Lashiti, and the others at the cabin. Along with Scorpion Cat Cassidy, the cabin team meets up with Mabuchi and his group near the…

In Paradrop, the 23rd episode of Gate, the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) begins the operation to free the Jade Palace and the peace-loving senators. What Happened The political leadership having finally given the go-ahead, the JSDF launches their operation while Pina Co Lada languishes in her cell. The Kawasaki C-1 jets (Amazon sells a model here!), packed with paratroopers, begin taking off. The JSDF methodically launch their attack. Ground troops take control of the capital’s West Gate, then the Bassoon Prison where the empire holds most of the prisoners. Next, the jets drop paratroopers over the capital. Nothing in their experience prepared Zorzal and his generals for the sight of hundreds of JSDF paratroopers landing in the capital. The crown prince is about to recover from his shock when a messenger arrives to say that the western gate is under the JSDF’s control. Unable to fathom they could move so quickly, he begins to panic. Had it not been for Tyuule, he and his generals might have bolted then and there. She plays on his vanity to tell him that of course he needs…

Dimension W Episode 10: Oh, That’s What K.K.’s Operation Was For!

In Dimension W’s 10th episode, Resurrected Nightmare, Mira Yurizaki and Kyōma Mabuchi fight — but not with each other! Ruwai Aura Tibesti doubles down. The crazy scientist continues his work behind the scenes! Note: Spoilers below! Interested in reading the books? You can buy them from Amazon: What Happened A large, multi-tentacled robot attacks, and Yurizaki declares that she’ll defend Mabuchi. She teams up with the brother and sister team to disable it. However, when it sees Mabuchi unconscious in his car, it commits its reserves and rushes him. Though she’s able to remove its coil, the robot throws Yurizaki into the void, where she shuts down. Fortunately, Mabuchi awakens just in time and uses his wired weapons to bring her back. Mabuchi rips a coil-less device off of his earlobe. He suspects that it was the cause of his vivid memories while trapped within Haruka Seameyer’s dimensional energy sphere. The device had been warped into position, and Mabuchi begins to remember the device that would transport matter leveraging Dimension W. Adrastea’s goal was “space development.” The plan was to to transport an entire base, personnel and all, into space. Gate Episode 22: Pina and Lelei Have A Bad Day

In Gate’s 22nd episode, called The Empress in Slave’s Clothing, Tyuule pushes for her end game. Princess Pina Co Lada gets caught in Zorzal El Caesar’s web of intrigue. Lelei La Lalena defies death to give her dissertation. And don’t forget about the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) paratroopers! Warning! There are spoilers below! What Happened Zorzal’s men aren’t doing well against the 300 Rose-Order of Knights at the Jade Palace. Morale’s low and only the threat of harm to their families keep many of the imperial soldiers on task. In Rondel, Shandy Gaff Marea surveils the three in employees the Pied Piper had tricked. Shandy sees a suspicious woman arrives who tells them she’s going to help Lelei. How? By “faking” an attack to bring the Pied Piper out. She tells the three to make sure Lelei wears armor under her clothes. Shandy follows the woman and goes missing for four days. On the fourth day, Yōji Itami, Rory Mercury, Tuka Luna Marceau, and Yao Ro Dushi help Lelei get ready for her presentation. In Dimension W’s 9th episode, The Key to Adrastea, Loser confronts Kyōma Mabuchi over his past. A wild evil scientist appears!. Mira Yurizaki defends Mabuchi! Note: There are spoilers below! Mabuchi has forgotten everything about the incident, including the death of Loser’s wife and the start of the nothingness. As they argue, the blue sphere arrives. Loser seems to know what it is, and for some inexplicable reason, Mabuchi ignores Yurizaki’s warning and touches it. He collapses unconscious. As Loser leaves, Elizabeth Greenhough Smith joins him, and he tells her the sphere is looking for the “key” — which Mabuchi somehow has. Mabuchi “awakens” in a memory of his training with the Grendel. An evil version of Mabuchi taunts him for hoping his girlfriend will recover. He receives word that Central Africa — where Salba Ene Tibesti (a.k.a. Salva-Enna-Tibesti) lives. There, Salba tries to prevent the overthrow of his adopted father’s government. Unlike Mabuchi, Salba seems aware he’s in his memories, as if this isn’t the first time it’s happened to him. Gate Episode 21: The Empire Strikes Back

In Deadline, the 21st episode of Gate, Sherry Tyueli and Kōji Sugawara come to terms with their decision from last week. Tyuule, though her patsy Zorzal El Caesar, tightens the noose around the Jade Palace. And all the while, Tarō Kanō, the Defense Minister, lobbies to send the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) to aid their diplomats in that palace. What Happened The Oprichnina launch their attack against Pina Co Lada’s knights defending the Jade Palace. The knights repel the attack, but they are concerned about what effect the attack will have on Pina and her position at the palace. Meanwhile, Kanō struggles to convince Prime Minister (PM) Morita to let him send troops. The PM, concerned about how the other nations’ representatives and media who in the Special Region will perceive any military action, declines for now. Sugawara suggests Sherry hide in the palace. She declines, saying that her decision led to this battle and she feels that the least she can do is watch the knights fight and, perhaps, die. Her stance helps him understand that he, too, bears responsibility for this battle. The knights rescued Marquis Casel, and he agreed that the two of them had done the right thing. Noriko Mochizuki is escorting one of the media around Alnus…
