Seems that Yuuki hasn’t lost his appeal, Pecorine hasn’t lost her touch, and Pecorine hasn’t lost her longing. What were my 3 favorite moments from Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2 Episode 1, “A Walk on the Gourmet Side ~Curiosity Is the Best Bouquet Garni~?”

Third Favorite Moment: Tasty Yuuki
Well, that did not take long! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
The Gourmet Guild set out to find the Legendary Spice. Talk about the perfect quest to kick off the second season! It’s not just a spice. It’s a legendary spice! So we get several shots of Pecorine, Yuuki, Karyl, and Kokkoro trekking through the increasingly unknown wilds. Until they encounter two dogs who seem to have, well, seen better days.
Smiling reassuringly to Kokkoro, Yuuki slips down off the big ox-like critters they were riding. Slowly, carefully, he approached the two barking creatures. Going down on one knee, his smile projected peace and kindness and the promise of petting. Slowly they calmed down, until they came forward and let him stroke their heads.
The other three looked on, impressed. That is, until Yuuki looked back to give them a thumbs up. Then they started nom-ing on his arm.
Bonus: We got to see Kokkoro’s first wide-eyed X expression (05:05)!
Second Favorite Moment: Pecorine Tempts the Ghosts
It was a heart-warming moment that was perfectly in character. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
After the old man guided our heroes to the spot where his previous beloved guild members had fallen, there was a brief moment where it looked like there would be a fight. Kokkoro, though, looked beyond the obvious and cast her spell, saying, “Healing wind, guide these frozen souls to their place of repose.”
Now, instead of rampaging ghosts intent on destruction, they reverted to their original forms and began to ascend. That’s when they realized that the old man, too, was a ghost. He started to dissipate. After thanking them for rescuing his precious friends, he, too, began to ascend.
Until Pecorine grabbed him.
“You should come with us!” she said (18:16).
Wasn’t that a perfectly Pecorine thing to do?
Favorite Moment: Pecorine’s Longing
We’re just over a minute into the first episode, and already the show hit me right in the feels! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
The episode started on very calm, very up-beat notes. Kokkoro watered the flowers, Yuuki chopped wood, and Karyl slept in. Because when it comes to sleeping, Karyl has few peers. The camera gave us some quick shots of townsfolk waking up and getting ready for the day.
Then it cut to Pecorine standing alone on a tower. Her hair blew in the wind as she gazed longingly at the castle that used to be her home. To where her mother and father, the queen and king, ruled. Where an evil enchantress had stolen her name and made everyone forget the original.
Pecorine is a strong woman. She’s been on many adventures. But she’s not immune to longing. Seeing that expression on her face, the memory of such happy moments still fresh in my mind as contrast, cut right through me (01:05).
