3 Favorite Moments from Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2 Episode 3

Which Were My 3 Favorite Moments from Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2 Episode 3?

Yuni’s GPS, Karyl’s chiropractor, and Yuni’s solution to life, the universe, and everything. What were my 3 favorite moments from Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2 Episode 3, “Tea Party in the Mysterious Forest: Afternoon Carries the Scent of Danger”?

Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.

Third Favorite Moment: Yuni’s Enchanted Stone

I see doubt in Karyl’s eyes. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

The group was walking through a thick mist in the forest. Karyl worried aloud about getting lost, but Yuni said they had nothing to worry about. Then she produced a rock. A normal, “find by the side of the road” rock. Which just so happened to present precise grid coordinates for their location.

In response to Karyl’s shock, Yuni explained that in a fit of loneliness, she had enchanted the rock and had given it a personality. She also named it Rosetta, so maybe I should call it a stone.

Holding Rosetta so Karyl and Pecorine could see it, she introduced the stone and said (11:20), “She’s just as hard-headed as she looks. Please show her kindness.”

I think that Yuni was genuinely fond of Rosetta. Though I’m pretty sure Karyl felt dubious about their friendship.

Second Favorite Moment: The Wisdom of Karyl

Pecorine looked on as if to say, “Now, Karyl, it was just your neck!” Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Karyl’s a bit high strung, isn’t she? Her overreacting expressions are a source of endless joy (tinged with a little bit of guilt because, dang, I really like her and I hate to see her so tense!). And those expressions go hand in hand with her overreactions in general.

Some of that is completely understandable, given the double life she’s forcing herself to live. But despite what must be a crippling load of stress, she still finds time to look on the bright side. Take her reaction to Aoi temporarily killing her, for example. Aoi panicked when the scouting party almost discovered her My Friends artificial friends. That sentence, by the way, perfectly embodies this show’s humor!

Anyway, rather than let Karyl and most of the others discover her embarrassing secret, Aoi killed them by breaking their necks. Even though Yuni spoke sympathetically of Aoi’s actions, Karyl objected, saying (18:29), “Still, even if you were panicking, you can’t just snap someone’s neck!”

Aoi hung her head until Karyl relented and said, “Well, it doesn’t hurt from sleeping on it wrong anymore, at least.”

That’s the kind of moment you get when the humor and the plot are both so well crafted!

Favorite Moment: Yuni Embracing Her Path

Yuni looked into the Abyss and made her peace with it. That’s something few people can claim. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

There are truths about this world that just are not pleasant. I’m not talking about any conspiracy theories. I’m talking about what you find when you unravel the threads and follow them back to the source.

Yuni began this episode with a provocative statement: She had seen the deceptions of the world and through her studies and thesis, she wanted to expose them. But by the end of the episode, events had brought her to a crossroads. And she chose the path that she should travel.

“Hello, world,” she said, about to join her old and new friends for tea at Aoi’s home (21:22). “Still being deceptive, I see. I will not expose the truth of this world. I am neither a hero nor a great person.” Then she added my favorite part: “I will simply learn alone and smile with delight within my heart.”

She decided not to challenge the world in its deceit. Instead, she decided to delight in learning. I hope we see more of this character. I want to see where her choice leads her!
