Which Were My 3 Favorite Moments from Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2 Episode 9?
Karyl’s popular movie quote, Yuuki’s restated commitment, and Labyrista’s regret. What were my 3 favorite moments from Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2 Episode 9, “Converging Hearts, Passing Souls: Crepes the Flavor of a Promise”?

Third Favorite Moment: Karyl Quoting the Terminator 2: Judgment Day?
Apparently, Karyl is a fan of early 1990s science fiction movies! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
This show seems fond of throwing in random hints about the wider world or worlds surrounding where Yuuki lives now. We got another one in this episode, and I honestly don’t think it’s an accident.
Remember at the festival, when Kokkoro pulled Yuuki away so Pecorine could tell her secret to Karyl? Well, at the time, Karyl didn’t notice, because she was trying to win a stuffed animal for Pecorine. They were using cork-shooting rifles.
As Karyl took careful aim, she apparently felt confident in her shot, because she muttered (11:02), “Hasta la vista.”
That sure sounded like she was quoting from Terminator 2! And if it was, does that mean Karyl’s home planet is Earth? I seem to remember in episode 5 that’s where Kasumi and Kiiri were from, wasn’t it?
I love how the show just drops these little hints!
Second Favorite Moment: Yuuki’s Sure of at Least One Thing
Yuuki watched his friends approach, and he knew what he wanted to do for them. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
We’ve talked before about how Yuuki is a tragic character, haven’t we? He has to be aware of the differences between himself and almost everyone else, in terms of speech and intellectual agility. On top of that, he now remembers that he has tried and failed to protect his friends from death. It can’t help that the very friendships he saw massacred before are the ones he’s rebuilding now.
The guy’s got a lot on his plate. I wouldn’t blame him for being confused and despondent. But here’s what I like about him: He’s got courage. Beset by haunting memories and set against a foe he knows is deadly, he did not shrink away.
Labyrista (God rest her soul!) asked he if was really okay. He considered her question, and then he saw Karyl, Pecorine, and Kokkoro running towards him. Pecorine called out that they had snacks.
He stood, waving to them, and said to Labyrista (09:11), “All of them… And the bond we have… I’ll protect them this time.”
He spoke haltingly, and there was cream on his face from a crepe. But whatever he had to bring to the fight, he was willing to bring, in the hopes of protecting them.
If that’s not the best of what the human race has to offer, I’m not sure what is.
Favorite Moment: Labyrista’s Sweet Regret
She had a good plan. Her foe was just too great. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Okay, maybe I was wrong. Maybe there is one better thing the human race can offer. That brings us to Labyrista’s turn in the spotlight.
Kaiser Insight (translated as Omniscient Kaiser in the subtitles) killed Labyrista in this episode. She did so despite Labyrista’s well-thought out and well-executed plan. I wish Labyrista had done one more thing: Brought overwhelming force. But sometimes, that’s just not possible, and given the history that’s (apparently) between them, this is the best shot she’s had for many iterations.
So Labyrista tried her best, and she failed. Kaiser Insight teleported Karyl right in front of Labyrista’s sword as she was about to deliver the finishing blow. But in the instant she paused, the other surprise, a second Kaiser Insight, drove her sword through Labyrista’s heart.
What did she think as she fell through the crumbling remains of the trans-dimensional structures she had created as weapons? Did she lament her fate? Scream obscenities at whatever deities or powers she held dear?
No. Looking at Karyl’s face, seeing the terror there, Labyrista felt pity. And she thought of Yuuki.
“I’m sorry for putting your precious friend through such terrible pain,” she thought (21:31).
I’m going to miss her. This is one of those times when I don’t mind if the show pulls some magic trick and brings her back.
