My Dress-Up Darling – 03
I just wrote a post saying that I don’t even believe the term fan service has any meaning. Instead, I prefer to think of all representations of human sexuality as art. But even having said that, I find myself having to somewhat sheepishly admit that when I talk about how much I like a show like My Dress Up Darling, I have to wonder. Do some folks think I’m only enjoying the show because of the sexy antics of Marin Kitagawa, the main character? Is there a lingering suspicion that I only like the show because I secretly want a bikini-clad Marin to lounge around on my folded futon?
That’s blatantly ridiculous, of course. I don’t even own a futon.
I try to convey the real reasons I’m enjoying the show (and yes, Marin is a part of that). But I’m glad I came across this post by Flareknight on Anime Evo because they do such a good job of talking about the things that make this show special. Yes, Marin rocks a bikini. But the show is more than that. A lot more! Posts like Flareknight’s have the proof. See if he brings up the points you’ve noticed about the show!

Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc Review Episode 8: The Gang is All Here
There are times when I have to remind myself of something fundamental. It’s something that’s easy to forget after multiple decades of adulting. It’s also something that is pretty obvious when you think about it. What do I keep forgetting? I keep forgetting that it’s okay to geek out about stuff I love. And one of the things I love is a ufotable fight scene.
Do you know who has not forgotten that it’s okay to geek out about such things? Jernahblunt, that’s who! As proof, please let me direct your attention to his recent post on Jonah’s Daily Rants about Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc. The post is not only about the fight scenes in this episode, which is good because there was a lot going on! But among that “a lot” was a ton of ufotable-goodness. Jernahblunt’s post makes that topic shine! See if he talks about your favorite fight scene in the episode!

Anime Corner: Lupin the 3rd: The First Review
There are so many anime titles on my backlog that I had better retire soon, or I won’t have enough years left to watch them all! Among those titles are the series and movies that chronicle the adventures of Arsne Lupin III. Every shot or scene that I see from that universe has this amazingly cool vibe. Well, I just came across this post by neverarguewithafish on the site Never Argue with a Fish, and guess what? Remember how I’ve said before that my criteria for a successful review is one that makes me want to watch the show? Well, the backlog grew again after reading neverarguewithafish’s post! See if you have the same reaction!

Winter 2022 First Impressions – My Dress-Up Darling
One of the things that I really like about My Dress Up Darling is the passion Wakana Gojou shows for hina dolls and Marin Kitagawa shows for cosplay. I’ve never had a chance to explore cosplay, though I respect and admire people who do. The costumes amaze me, but what I find even more impressive is how some of the cosplayers take on the persona of their favorite characters. I’m attracted to craftsmanship and passion, almost regardless of how they’re expressed.
That’s one of the reasons I really liked this post from Jessi Silver on the site Season 1 Episode 1. Jessi Silver has some experience in the realm of cosplay, so she was able to talk about just how authentic the show is in its presentation. That’s something I couldn’t personally judge, because I know next to nothing about it. The other reason I liked the post was the insights it shared. I always like gaining a better understanding of folk’s perspective. That’s one of the benefits about being within a community! See if you get the same sense from the article.

Why is it So Hard To Choose a Favourite Jujutsu Kaisen Character?
I came across Wednesday’s post on The Spooky Redhead. I have to admit, at first, I was skeptical. How hard can it be to pick a favorite character from JUJUTSU KAISEN? I mean, my favorite character is Nobara Kugisaki! I could go on for hours about how amazing she is. Then I paused and thought that no, wait, my favorite character is Maki Zenin, because I could go on for hours about how cool she is! After another pause, I thought that it had to be Kasumi “Useless” Miwa, because…
It was at this point that I realized, “Holy crap! Wednesday is right! It really is hard to choose!” Fortunately, the post explains clearly why this is the case. It’s a hopeful answer, too! See if you agree!
