Princess Connect! Re:Dive S2 – 04
There is a series this season that I think does not get the love and attention it deserves. Which is to say, there’s a series that I don’t see bloggers or other reviewers gush about. That series is Princess Connect! Re: Dive! Season 2. I’m enjoying the living daylights out of this series, and I would like to share that enjoyment.
Fortunately, there are other bloggers who do recognize the series’ overall greatness. As proof, please let me present this post by FlareKnight on the site Anime Evo. FlareKnight understands the appeal of what the series has to offer, and his review does a great job of identifying what was so much fun in the most current episode. If you’re not watching the series, please do check out the review to see what you’re missing. And if you are watching it, head on over to bask in the enjoyment!

Character of the Month: Endeavor
It’s been five months or so since My Hero Academia Season 5 ended. That’s enough time to mull over the characters and situations. MHA does a lot of things right, and the more I think about one thing in particular, the more impressed I am. That one thing is the arc exploring Enji Todoroki/Endeavor. Instead of me going on about what impressed me, please let me direct you instead to this post by Hannah on the site Hanime on Anime. She expertly captured what made Endeavor such an interesting character. That includes what set this arc off from similar arcs in other shows. What am I talking about? You’ll need to read the article to find out!

Let’s Watch MY DRESS-UP DARLING Episode 4 – “Are These Your Girlfriend’s?”
Sometimes, I pick a series to review because I think it’ll stretch my emotional vocabulary. Sometimes, I pick a series just because I think it’ll be fun and then discover, much to my delight, that it is way more than I expected. In rare and exciting cases, in fact, it can challenge my vocabulary as much as a series like The Ancient Magus’ Bride. This season, that show is My Dress-Up Darling. This is going to sound shallow, but I wanted to review the series because of Marin’s smile on the cover of the manga. It was bright, confident, playful, and not in the least bit arrogant.
As you can probably tell if you’re reading my reviews (like this one of episode 4), then you know I now see the series as way more than just a vehicle for a Marin’s smile. I came across this post from Jane the Anime Witch on the site The Magic Planet that captures why the show has so exceeded my expectations. Jane the Anime Witch has a knack for finding what makes an episode tick, then sharing that discovery in a way that’s easy for even me to understand. Talk about skill! Take a look at Jane the Anime Witch’s article and see what it is that makes this series such a delight to watch.

Sabikui Bisco – 04
You what’s a good problem to have? Having too many enjoyable shows to choose from. Between a full time career that often intrudes into my home life and trying to write novels, I don’t have a lot of time for this site or watching the anime I want to watch. Choosing the series to review is one way I force myself to make time to watch anime, which means it’s completely normal for me to miss out on some great series.
Winter 2022 is particularly difficult, and I blame Sabikui Bisco. Okay, that’s not fair. But it’s at least partly to blame! If I thought the show sucked, I could stop watching it. But no! The show just had to build an engrossing world and populate it with characters that captured my imagination. How did the show accomplish that? Glad you asked! I came across this post by Choya on the site Random Curiosity that talks about what the show’s doing right. See if the article mentions your favorite scenes!
Wrong Every Time
ODDTAXI – Episode 13
If you’ve read my reviews lately, you might have noticed that I’ve quoted Queen’s Under Pressure, especially the lyric “the terror of knowing what the world is about,” more than once. That terror has been on my mind a lot lately. Maybe winter’s wearing me down. Maybe it’s that every time I read the news, I half expect to see news that Jesse Owens just won his fourth gold medal — but that the iron Eagle is perched under a slightly different flag this time.
I mention this because I just read a post written by Bobduh on the site Wrong Every Time, and it started out by referencing that reality in the context of ODDTAXI. The article has some serious spoilers about the series’ last episode, but if you’ve already seen it, the article brings up some thought-provoking points. I wish reality were other than it is. I wish that we did not have to contend with the “terror” that is, for all intents and purposes, beyond our ability to defeat. But as Bobduh points out, we can still use the lens of fiction to study it. Maybe someday, one of us will figure it out. Read the article and see what you think!
