Welcome to My 5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts from 2022 Week 09!
Every week I look for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. I check about 340 sites, and I can tell you that the ani-blogging community constantly produces a ton of amazing posts. I hope this list helps you find some of them!
Here’s the list of the sites I check!
Anime Evo
Princess Connect! Re:Dive S2 – 07
I enjoy finding a blogger who gets a series. That’s especially true if the series is one of my favorites in a given season. This season, the series is Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2, and one of the bloggers who really gets it is Flareknight from Anime Evo. On one hand, it’s nice to kick back and read a positive review about a show I like. So often, on the big commercial sites, it feels like some of the reviewers nitpick a show to the point where it’s just not fun to for me to read their reviews. And in the context of entertainment, if it’s not fun, what’s the point? Also, Flareknight’s posts point out details I missed, as was the case in this review. See if he mentioned anything you missed about the episode!
Couch and Chill
Demon Slayer Season 2 Wrap Up
Demon Slayer season 2 (Mugen Train Arc and Entertainment District Arc) has wrapped up. Did you see it? What did you think? After watching it, I have to wonder: How the heck is ufotable going to top this? Talk about a good problem to have!
What was the season’s high points? Most emotional events? Most interesting villain? Those are not only great conversation starters, those are some of the questions that Ang asks in her post on Couch and Chill. Reading her post helped me re-live some of the highlights of season 2, and what a season it was! See if she captured your favorite part of the second season!

Eureka Seven – Highs and Lows
My anime backlog is becoming scary. Seriously, I’m going to have to investigate life-prolonging treatments if I want to make a sizable dent in it! It doesn’t help that bloggers like Irina from I Drink and Watch Anime keep publishing reviews like this one about Eureka Seven! I mean, seriously! There’s no way I could read this review and not want to watch the show! It didn’t help that my wife bought the Blu Ray for me last Christmas, so I could even watch it in its full glory! See if Irina’s post makes you feel like watching the series!

BODACIOUS SPACE PIRATES: SOLVING MODERN SPACE PIRACY
I’m so used to having a perspective and opinions that are so out there that when I find someone who shares even a single commonality, it comes as almost a physical shock. No, I’m not exaggerating! I experienced such a shock this week when I read Scott’s review on Mechanical Anime Reviews of Bodacious Space Pirates. I didn’t watch that series for a couple of years because the title mislead me into thinking it was someone, well, more hentai than anime. Looks like Scott had the same reaction! Now that he’s watched it, what did he think? Did he like it as much as I did? There’s one way to find out!
The Review Heap
Darker than Black (Dākā Zan Burakku ー Kuro no Keiyakusha)
As some of you know, I’m trying to write novels (you can read about it here). When I write a particular book, I’m thinking about plot, settings, characters, and all the other things that go into writing something people will enjoy reading. But even as I’m doing that, in the back of my mind, I know an awful truth. That truth is this: I really don’t know how to make a book or character memorable.
Take Darker than Black, for example. It’s been almost a decade since I watched it, yet the show’s vibe remains vivid in my memory. How did it accomplish that? Well, this post by ashleycapes on the site The Review Heap has some ideas, and some good ones, too! What were those ideas? Well, I could tell you, but I’d bore you, so let me point you at ashleycapes’ review! You’ll enjoy it more anyway!

I seem to remember the first I heard about “Bodacious Space Pirates” was still under the name “Miniskirt Pirates”. Needless to say, when the first episode came I didn’t expect much. It turned out to be a really fun space adventure show, and even the SF content was surprisingly solid (more so than most, actually). A really fun show, and one of my favourite opening songs, too.
I remember reading about that as the title! It’s not much better, but honestly, it at least paints a slightly less salacious image!
The SF content really began to impress me with the care that went into handling the solar sailing ship. It’s one of the better science fiction treatments, as far as I’ve seen.
And I agree about the opening! I really liked the ED, too.
