Don’t you love the feeling when an anime delivers a moment of pure enjoyment? It might be a triumphant victory, or it might be a poignant exchange of feelings. But when an episode delivers the moment in all its perfection, it makes all of the hours invested in watching worth it. I try to recognize those moments with my Caw Out Awards. Turns out that I’m not the only one looking for these moments! Blogger jelx on the site The Glorio Blog captured some great moments from 2022. Even some of my favorites! I didn’t get to watch the first seasons of Encouragement of Climb, so I certainly didn’t get to watch its more recent season, Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit. But after reading infinitezenith’s post on The Infinite Zenith, I’m forced to reflect on the error of my ways. Namely, I realize this was yet another series that I should have made time to watch. This review described what made the season so compelling. What really hit me was the discussion of Aoi Yukimura’s character development. If this was a series you enjoyed, I’m sure this post will bring back some great memories. And if not, maybe you’ll join me in adding it to your backlog!

Winter 2023 Preview
The Fall 2022 anime season is almost over, so you know what that means! It’s time for Winter 2023 previews! I’ve started a game for myself. At the end of each season, I try to find a preview that is more comprehensive, more in-depth, and more enjoyable to read than the one from Random Curiosity. Well, guess what? Cupcakes and the rest of the crew at Random Curiosity did it again! And this is within a field of increasingly robust competition! If you want to see what’s coming out in Winter 2023, you know what to do!

The Eminence in Shadow: The Sweet Spot
I’ve been enjoying the heck out of The Eminence in Shadow. If you ask me why, I’ll probably go one and on about my favorite quotes and moments (like this review of episode 11). But that might not give you a clear enough picture of the show. Leave it to Dewbond from Shallow Dives in Anime to cut to the heart of the matter and explain why this show is so much fun. Is it for everyone? Probably not — and that’s part of Dewbond’s explanation! See if this post either makes you wish you were watching, or glad you’re already watching!

Who Lurk in the Shadows?
I’ve already talked about how much I like The Eminence in Shadow. It’s a quirky show, and it’s hard to explain its appeal. Dewbond covered it from one angle in the post I just celebrated. Theon Martin, on the site USA Anime, approaches the show from another perspective. What is it that drives Cid forward? Is he really insane? What’s his relationship to this world? This post has some great insights!
