Welcome to My 5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts from 2023 Week 22!
Every week, I visit over 300 anime sites looking for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. These five posts are my favorite for the week! I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did!
You can see a list of the sites I check here: Massive List of Sites!
Anime Evo
Oshi no Ko – 07
You’ll probably notice a difference in this week’s edition: I’m going to be blunt and (even for me) not terribly creative. I divide my life into three main components: my main career, my family, and my writing. For years, I’ve managed to juggle the three. In the last month, I’ve taken major hits in 2/3 of them. And the writing’s not going badly — to give you a hint. To say I’m running on fumes would be to overstate the fuel density. So please let me apologize in advance to FlareKnight, who wrote this post on Anime Evo, and the other writers this week.
Also apologies to you as readers! This is going to be a little more blunt and a little less clever and humorous than usual. Yes, I tried to be clever and humorous at times. On second thought, you might only notice the increase in bluntness…
That said, my trip to the world of anime blogging is something that I look forward to. It’s because of posts like this one. I like how FlareKnight broke down this episode of Oshi no Ko. He has a way of laying out the most important parts of the episode, then showing what those parts made meant. It makes watching or re-watching the episode even more enjoyable.
The Infinite Zenith
Uma Musume Pretty Derby OVA: Road To The Top Review and Reflection
I accidentally watched the first season of Uma Musume Pretty Derby. I wasn’t prepared to like it as much as I did. In fact, I like it so much it inspired a subplot in one of my novels. Recently, the studio released Uma Musume: Pretty Derby – Road to the Top, and infinitezenith just posted this review on The Infinite Zenith. The reviews that infinitezenith writes are in-depth and thorough. I’m not slighting short reviews (I write them myself!). But sometimes, I just want to get lost in prose. It’s like a mental mini-vacation, and this post is a great example of that.
Kvasir369
Ancient Magus Bride: Season 2 – Episode 9 Review
I look forward to checking out all of the sites in my Massive List of Anime Sites every week. This site is one of the ones I particularly look forward to. I’ve always enjoyed KVASIR369’s review format on the site Kvasir369. I like the episode summary, the analysis, and the discussion of how the anime differenced from the manga. Since I already enjoy The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2, KVASIR369’s post this week let me bask in the episode’s warm glow for a little longer. That came in handy this week!
SakugaBlog
CAN YOU ASSEMBLE A HIGH PROFILE ANIME STUDIO OUT OF NOWHERE? – THE HISTORY OF CYGAMES PICTURES AND UMA MUSUME ROAD TO THE TOP’S FIERCE ANIMATION
Remember how I just talked about Uma Musume: Pretty Derby – Road to the Top? This review from KViN on the site SakugaBlog talked about the studio that brought it into existence. I appreciate art, and I even studied it a bit in college. But I don’t have the vocabulary to describe what I like, and I don’t have an understanding of the industry. Reading posts like this one help me get at least a dim view of the craftsmanship that went into this OVA. Knowing a little more about those talented people and their craft does my heart good.
Shallow Dives in Anime
The Things I Loved, Liked, Disliked, and Hated about One Piece
I think the One Piece anime has aired more than a thousand episodes, hasn’t it? How the hell would you review something like that? Well, turns out Dewbond found a way on his site Shallow Dives in Anime! That way is a compact, easy-to-consume format! Dewbond just debuted this format, and I like it. Like the title itself suggests, I get an idea of his opinion of the show — his honest opinion. That’s what make reading his site so much fun.

I totally agree! Shallow Dives analysis of One Piece was really good! They pointed out a lot of details that effected what they thought of the series. Little details I had totally missed, but it really did change the feel of the anime.
Dewbond’s adept at that — he gives a ton of insight in a concise space! Keeps it fun to read, too!
