5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts from 2023 Week 25

Welcome to My 5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts from 2023 Week 25!

Every week, I visit over 295 anime sites looking for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. These five posts are my favorite for the week! I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did!

You can see a list of the sites I check here: Massive List of Sites!

Bonus Section: Summer 2023 Seasonal Preview

I found several seasonal previews that I thought you might like! They’re in alphabetical order by site name. Enjoy!

Anteiku Anime Reviews

Fairy Tail

This site is all about celebrating anime in general. While I’m all about celebrating other blogger’s posts posts in this Five Favorite Posts series, I’m particularly all about celebrating posts that celebrate anime. If that makes any sense. I’m kind of getting lost in the celebration. I guess what I’m trying to convey is that I really enjoy reading posts about a series the writer fell head-over-heels-in-love with.

And guess what? I found one this week! Anteiku Anime Reviews, on the site Anteiku Anime Reviews, tackled Fairy Tail. Since the series with 175+ episodes, my first thought was that this review had to be long — and physically, it was. But reading it? It seemed like 20 seconds! It’s a lot of fun reading about why this anime is so amazing. I found myself remembering the characters he highlighted. I have to say, I think he did the series proud. See what you think!

The Curiously Dead Cat

Skip and Loafer, The Sound of Music, and the Toxic Girlfriend

Every week, one or two of the posts I celebrate add stuff to my backlog. This week, it’s NegativePrimes’ post’s turn (on the site The Curiously Dead Cat). In this case, the series is called Skip and Loafer. What makes it worth adding to my backlog? Well, legally, it has nothing to do with The Sound of Music. That will make sense if you read NegativePrimes’ post. Also, it has everything to do with the core conflicts, which NegativePrimes describes with wit and insight. See if the series might appeal to you!

Kvasir369

Ancient Magus Bride: Season 2 – Episode 12 Review

You might think that I’m getting lazy by selecting kvasir369’s reviews of The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 on the site Kvasir369 for the last several weeks. Not so! Not even close. There was a lot of competition this week for my top five favorites, and kvasir369’s review had to earn its spot here! On top of what I usually like about these reviews (succinct summary, great commentary, and an analysis of how the anime differs from the manga), this review treated key moments with due respect. That kind of thing’s important, especially for a series like this one! See if you agree!

Mechanical Anime Reviews

THE EMINENCE IN SHADOW AND ENCROACHING MODERN UNDERWEAR

I’ve read every post I can find about The Eminence in Shadow, because its concept and execution fired up my imagination. But of all the perspectives I’ve read, I think Scott’s review on Mechanical Anime Reviews is one of the most, if not the most, original. First, he gave me an interpretation of Alpha’s narrative role that I’ve never read nor thought of before. Given she’s one of my favorite characters, that’s a huge plus! Second, his insights about modern underwear did not go where I thought they would — in a very good way! It made me appreciate the world-building even more. See if you have a similar reaction!

OGIUE MANIAX

Larger than Life—Body Diversity in Gundam: The Witch from Mercury

Shameless plug time: I’m building the world and characters for my sixth novel. You can read about it here. I bring this up for two reasons. First, I would love for you to visit my other site and follow my progress. I include a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff. If I were a fan of me, I’d be really interested in seeing that stuff! As it is, I already know everything I’m going to say, so there’s no element of surprise.

Second, this post by sdshamshel on the site OGIUE MANIAX made me reflect on my character building. This post isn’t a SJW-take on the subject (though I’m not criticizing any perspective by saying that). Instead, it’s a thoughtful reflection on how writers present characters. It’s important for a number of reasons, and one of them is very, very simple: we want to connect to readers, and a topic like this can help us do so. I hope I can do as good a job as sdshamshel says Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury has done! See what you think!
