ARUM JOURNAL
Grandpa And Grandma Turn Young Again Episode 3 Review – The Darn Hourglass
Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again was on my radar this season, but it fell prey to the same predator as many other series: time. Still, I’ve been on the lookout for reviews, because as a grandpa myself, I was curious how the show portrayed the perspective Ine and Shouzou. In other words, I wondered if the show presented an authentic portrayal of its main characters. ecargmura’s post on ARUM JOURNAL leads me to believe it goes well beyond that, in a very good way. I found ecargmura’s post to be engaging, honest, and genuinely moving. It also helped me understand what kind of mood I’ll need to be in to watch this show!
Confessions of an Overage Otaku
KILLER ENDING: YOUR LIE IN APRIL
When I first watched Your Lie in April, a lot of things had come together in my life to enhance the show’s emotional potency. My daughter studied piano and played at recitals, for example. The net effect is that the show hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks. I’ve read a lot of critiques since then, and many have tried to convince me that the show really wasn’t that powerful. But I know what I felt. I was delighted to find this post by The Overage Otaku on the site Confessions of an Overage Otaku. If anyone every tries to convince me that Your Lie in April wasn’t all that, I’ll just point them to this post. I now consider it the definitive defense of the series. Go see if you agree!
D&A Anime Blog
Spy x Family: Code White-One Crazy Vacation
I may sound all positive when I write most of these posts, but I’m actually very much a review snob. When I come across a review of a series I like, I find myself switching to a more critical mode. If a review doesn’t convince me quickly that the writer knows the topic, I’ll move on — sometimes in as little as two seconds. The key takeaway? If I celebrate a post here, it’s not only because I enjoyed it — it’s because my snobbish self judged the writer to be a real subject matter expert.
Roderick J “Jay” Friz, on the site D&A Anime Blog, routinely convinces me that he gets anime in general. In this case, he gets Spy X Family in particular. Just read this post about Spy x Family Code: White. Roderick J “Jay” Friz gets the characters Loid, Yor, and Anya. With that as a solid foundation, he then went on to make me drop everything and go watch the movie — with full confidence that I’ll enjoy it! I’m not sure how much more I could ask of a review!
DOUBLESAMA
KONOSUBA: GOD’S BLESSING ON THIS WONDERFUL WORLD! 3 EPISODE 3 REVIEW
I had just finished watching KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3 episode 3, so I was in a celebratory mood and wanted to boost that mood by reading an enjoyable review. The episode was an absolute blast — to the point where I wished I had reviewed it! Turns out there was no need — DoubleSama, on the site DOUBLESAMA, said everything I would have, and more! In a more entertaining way, too! So if you liked the episode as much as I did, check out this review — it was a great way to celebrate the episode!

Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside Season 2: This Title is Already Way Too Fucking Long
I’m a big fan of truth in advertising. So, I think you see why I liked the title that Dewbond (on his site Shallow Dives in Anime) chose for his review of Banished From The Hero’s Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside Season 2. Because let’s face it: the title is ridiculously long! Not only is is the title accurate, but Dewbond gets the series — especially the relationship between Rit and Red, who in many ways are the heart of the series. The series was already in my back log, but this review made me want to bump it higher on the priority list. See what you think!
