Every week, I visit about 270 anime sites looking for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. These are my five favorite posts for the week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
You can see a list of the sites I check here: Massive List of Sites!
9 Tailed Kitsune
Maids versus Butlers
For some reason, I fictional maids fascinate me. Not so much butlers; but certainly maids. In fact, I even wrote combat maids into a few of my books. I could be shallow and saw it’s because of the cute uniforms. Or I could pretend to be more refined and say I admire their sense of dedication and service. Regardless, the title of Louis’ post on 9 Tailed Kitsune caught my attention. I first, I thought it was a review of the series Ladies Versus Butlers. But that was only because I’ve had a long, long (did I mention long?) week and misread the headline. Instead, it’s a well thought-out list of maids and butlers from anime. Some of my favorites were there, as well as some I hadn’t heard of before (according to MAL, I’ve watched over 550 series, so I need to up my game). But the number 1 choice? Perfect. Go see where your favorites landed!
Anime Evo
Blue Archive The Animation – 07
I’m still bummed that Blue Archive – The Animation was so hard to find when the season began. Apparently, it’s going to start airing on the Blue Archive YouTube channel, so that’s an improvement. Still, without going to extraordinary lengths, it was hard to find, and I just didn’t have time to keep up with it. Fortunately, FlareKnight, on the site Anime Evo, has been reviewing the series. From the sounds of it, I’m glad it’s coming out legally on YouTube. Episode 7 in particular sounds like it’ll be interesting! What did FlareKnight like about it? There’s one way to find out!
DOUBLESAMA
DEMON SLAYER: KIMETSU NO YAIBA HASHIRA TRAINING ARC EPISODE 2 REVIEW
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc has been underway for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say, it feels weird not reviewing it. I reviewed each season since the first! But, that milk’s already spilled; no sense crying over it. Which is a folksy, kinda heart-warming phrase, isn’t it? Anyway, in this post, DoubleSama, on the site DoubleSama, dives into the characters and situations with his usual attention to detail and fascinating conjecture. If you like Giyuu, then this post is for you!
Lita Kino Anime Corner
Mari Okada Knows Emotions
Don’t you love it when you find a director whose work speaks to you? I do. It’s like finding another perspective through which to view the world. Or, wait. It’s not “like.” It really is viewing the world through another perspective! If your goal is to understand the world and develop empathy, then finding such a perspective is better than finding gold. That’s why I so enjoyed reading Lita’s post on Lita Kino Anime Corner. Lita spoke of Mari Okada’s skill and vision, using the film Maboroshi (and others) as examples. She spoke so passionately about Mari Okada’s work that I’m going to add some of those works to my backlog! Go see if Lita talks about any of the works you’ve seen.
Otaku Orbit
Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 2: “Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka’s Pain”
It’s a relief to see another review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc this week. I really like the series; I want to see it succeed. It’s not that I think my reviews or anyone one else’s will help the series succeed; it’s that I see signs of Demon Slayer’s vitality in the reviews. Take this post by Jiraiyan on the Otaku Orbit, for example. This post dives deep into Giyuu’s character, and after reading it, I have a much better understanding for many of the traits I’ve seen in Giyuu. Now, if we could just get a Shinobu Kochou-focused episode…
