Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian – 02
Honestly, I didn’t think I’d like Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian. I mean, how many romcoms with a lead tsundere can I actually enjoy? Well, I don’t know the final answer, but I have an interim solution: the answer is however many I’ve already enjoyed +1. Yeah, that’s a long way of saying this show’s fun to watch. There are lots of reasons, and I’d like to direct your attention to FlareKnight’s recent post on Anime Evo for an explanation. He not only tells you why it was so enjoyable; he tells you with great enthusiasm! And did Chisaki Sarashina come out of nowhere or what?
ARUM JOURNAL
Senpai Is An Otokonoko Episode 2 Review – The Conservative Mindset
I learned two things reading ecargmura’s post on ARUM JOURNAL. First, I learned what otokonoko means. Second, I learned the series Senpai Is An Otokonoko was a thing. It sailed right under my radar when I was looking for series to watch this season. The fact I had no idea what it was about made me curious to read what ecargmura had to say. By the time I was done, I remembered something about fiction: it can clarify things.
Mention the definition of otokonoko and one of the political parties in the USA becomes rather less than celebratory of the perspectives of others. But build sympathy for a character who fits the term otokonoko, then set them loose in a fictional universe? Well, then you’ll free to ask questions like ecargmura brings up. Which, to be clear, were excellent and on-point questions. Not only did I learn stuff reading this post — in all honesty, it restored a bit of my hope in humanity. I’ll be it does the same for you!
Hanime on Anime
Kaiju No. 8: A Monstrous Sleeper Hit
I recently started watching Kaiju No. 8 because a) I didn’t have time to watch it when it first aired and b) I didn’t have time to make time. If that makes sense. Which it might not, but it did in my head. Anyway. The show’s fun to watch — almost overwhelmingly so in that there are so many little cool and interesting details! Like what? I’m glad you asked! Hanime on Anime, on the site Hanime on Anime, just published this review that talks all about why the show was so much fun. The review had me nodding a lot in agreement — and even sitting up in surprise when it mentioned something I hadn’t considered! See if you enjoy reading it as much as I did!
The Magic Planet
Seasonal First Impressions: Back to the Bottom in TOWER OF GOD SEASON 2
I’ve noticed a disappointing trend: several reviewers don’t seem to enjoy Tower of God: Return of the Prince (which I had thought was just called Tower of God Season 2 until I grabbed the link to My Anime List!). I have no idea why. This week, I reviewed the first episode, and it had almost everything I liked from the first season. I mean it had Ha Yuri Jahad — which was pretty much all I needed. Well, your tastes are probably more sophisticated than mine, so you’ll need more. And I have the perfect review for you! The yuri sorcerer just posted a review on The Magic Planet, and it could have been subtitled “The Review for Sophisticated Anime Palettes.” If Ha Yuri Jahad’s not enough to convince you the show has appeal, then I’m certain this review will!
Merlin’s Musings
Delicious in Dungeon is Delightful
I love fantasy stories set in well-crafted worlds. I’m hard-pressed to think of a show that better fits that bill than Delicious in Dungeon. I geeked out watching the show describe the various niches of the dungeon’s ecosystems and how they interacted. That’s solid gold in terms of world construction! But the show didn’t stop thereand Merlin’s review on Merlin’s Musings talks all about it. Merlin’s review reminded me of everything I liked about that series. I only recently finished reading it, but Merlin’s review got me so fired up I had to stop myself from starting a rewatch — for which my backlog is grateful! See if he talked about what you liked about the show!

Re:zero has so much rewatch value.
When Petelgeuse said in Episode 15 with my arm, my fingers, you killed her to Subaru, he was projecting how he killed Fortuna with his Unseen Hand onto Subaru. That is why Petelgeuse was crying in that scene as he had no reason to cry seeing Rem being mutilated by his hand.
That’s one of the things I like about Re:ZERO. Rewatching earlier episodes almost always turns out some detail or link that makes things even more interesting.
Thanks for the mention!
It’s always nice to learn something new when you watch or read something!
You’re welcome! Thanks for tackling those topics with grace and insight!
So, as I saw my blog mentioned, I had a moment of, “yes! best-animated anime for the win!” Then I saw it was this week’s review instead, and my grin just got even wider. It was that feeling I sometimes get where, if I had a tail, it would be wagging. 😉

Holo’s cool!
I really enjoyed what you had to say about Delicious in Dungeon. It was a week with a lot of competition, too! It took me quite a while to get the list down to five.
