Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian – 03
Four shows. My schedule is such this season that I’m only able to watch four shows. I could say, “Man, I’m so bummed it’s only four shows!”Or, I could say, “Hey, I’m still alive to watch four shows!” I’m going with the latter. That said, if you’d told me one of those four shows would be a rom-com called “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian,” I’d have to go to the dictionary to confirm how to spell askance — because that how I would have looked at you! But that show is one of my favorites this season. Is it because of Sumire Uesaka’s voice work? Absolutely, that’s part of it. But there’s more — like the things FlareKnight points out in his review on Anime Evo! See what he thought of the third episode!

Spring 2024 – Finale Thoughts
For 5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts, I generally shy away from articles that summarize episodes from multiple series. Don’t get me wrong — I enjoy those posts! But I want to celebrate posts that move me, and most of the time, the summary format doesn’t do that. Well, DerekL just wrote the exception to the rule on the site Apprentice Mage’s Lounge. I was happily reading along, having fun reading his take on several shows, when DerekL’s section on Sound! Euphonium 3. It hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks. I tried to read it to my wife, and my freaking voice broke. In my defense, DerekL said the paragraph even affected him as he edited it! So, brace yourself, and head on over to Apprentice Mage’s Lounge!
Confessions of an Overage Otaku
OH, SO META: EXCEL SAGA
Want to get my attention in a post? Then write about Re:CREATORS. Ah, but it’s a double-edged sword, because when it comes to Re:CREATORS, my standards go through roof. The Overage Otaku, in this post on Confessions of an Overage Otaku, mentioned Re:CREATORS — and earned my seal of approval for how he spoke of it! And it isn’t even the topic of this post; Excel Saga is! But the reference to Re:CREATORS makes perfect sense in the context of discussing Excel Saga. I’m not asking you to take my word for it — you can go see for yourself!

New Members Join the Greyrat Family as ‘Mushoku Tensei’ Ends S2
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Part 2 continued this series’ tradition of impressing me with solid characters and fantasy world-building. This season saw serious stuff go down, especially in the later episodes. If you read my reviews, you know I enjoyed watching. Looking back over the season, I think I enjoyed watching the last episode the most. After reading this post by Roderick J “Jay” Friz on the site D&A Anime Blog, I’m even more sure. What about the review convinced me? I’m glad you asked — because finding out is easy and fun!

Isekai Ojisan (Uncle from Another World)
I sometimes wonder if anime series streaming on Netflix stunts their popularity. Seeing a dearth of coverage for series like Uncle from Another World reinforces that impression. In this case, I started to watch the show, but production delays meant I couldn’t follow it week to week, and I forgot about it. why? Because it’s not on Crunchyroll! Fortunately, I can rely on posts like this one on Hexa Blog to raise awareness. This review does a great job of describing what made the show enjoyable. It made me redouble my efforts to remember to finish the series!
