5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts from 2025 Week 02

Every week, I visit almost 230 anime sites looking for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. These are my five favorite posts for the week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

You can see a list of the sites I check here: Massive List of Sites!

Beneath the Tangles

First Impression: Dr. Stone: Science Future

I’m really looking forward to this season of Dr. Stone: Science Future. I’ve been a fan of this franchise since it first aired, and I was looking forward this week to finding out what other fans thought of the premiere. I found out when I came across Josh’s review of the premiere episode on the site Beneath the Tangles. What did Josh think about it? Does the episode live up to the expectations set by the episodes that have come before it? I don’t want to give anything away, but reading this post gives me a sense that we’re off to a good start!

How to Cook a Series: ZOM 100 Bucket List of the Dead

If you read my reviews, you probably had the impression that I enjoyed ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Dead. And I just realized that I haven’t finished reviewing the season (they stopped at episode 9 and only came finished later due to production issues). That series deals with themes near and dear to me, so my standards for ZOM 100 reviews are especially high. It should come as no surprise that The Overage Otaku, on the site Confessions of an Overage Otaku, met and exceeded those standards with ease. Do you know what kind of plot that the series uses? The Overage Otaku knows! Go see if your guess ( or expert opinion) is right!

Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya: Licht Nameless Girl Review

Entries from the Fate universe are hit or miss for me. For example, it was hard for me to finish Fate/Extra: Last Encore, but I couldn’t get enough of Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works. I haven’t taken the time to analyze why, but I know I’ve gotten more picky about the franchise over time. So, when I saw that DoubleSama, on the site DoubleSsama, reviewed the movie Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya: Licht Nameless Girl, I wondered: is this something I might want to watch? Well, DoubleSama did his normal excellent job of dissecting the narrative, characters, and themes. The short version? I think my backlog just grew. The longer version? Go see for yourself!

Anime: The Death That Hits the Hardest

How people react to fiction fascinates me. I enjoy understanding why a given work of fiction, or a given character, or a given situation, resonates with someone — and why it doesn’t. Discussions that result in deeper understandings are rare nowadays, but that just makes them even more valuable. ChibiChonk, in her post on Filthy Casual for Life, talks about an anime death that hit her hard. It takes courage to offer a description like that, but the result is an opportunity for greater understanding and empathy. That’s a great way to build community, isn’t it?

Look Back: What Motivates You?

What motivates you? How does whatever it is motivate you? Those questions fascinate me, because for the trait that I think defines me, I almost feel like I’m cheating. I often read about writers asking how to stay motivated. For me, the question’s not relevant: I can’t not write. I’ve tried not writing, and my mental health crashes after only a few days. That’s why I was really interested to see Hanime on Anime’s post on Hanime on Anime about the movie Look Back. I particularly like how she shared how the movie spoke to her own motivations for writing. Sharing insights like that’s another great way to build community! It’s almost like blogging has an edge over social media or something!
