5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts from 2025 Week 13

Every week, I visit almost 230 anime sites looking for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. These are my five favorite posts for the week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

You can see a list of the sites I check here: Massive List of Sites!

Previews for 2025 Spring Season

Some sites have already published their seasonal previews. Here are three more that I saw published their seasonal previews this week:

Analog Housou

The Ultimate Gundam Remix – Kidō Senshi Gundam GQuuuuuuX

One of the things I look for in my favorite posts is passion. It can be passion about a character, the story, the writer’s craft — anything. It doesn’t matter. I value honest opinions, and authentic passion is like a rare gem. This week, I found such a rare gem expressed for an entire franchise in this post on Analog Housou. The post talks mostly about Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX, but the post set the context by talking about the franchise as a whole, and I could just feel the writer’s enthusiasm. The post even included footnotes! Now, that’s dedication along with passion!

Shinichirou Watanabe’s Lazarus is Almost Here…

Some fans feel passionate about writers, directors, animators, or other artists that bring us anime. For example, if you’re a fan of Shinichirō Watanabe, you might be looking forward to the new series Lazarus. But you know what sometimes accompanies that kind of anticipation? Vivian Scheibelein knows and talks about it in this post on Animated Observations. I won’t spoil the surprise, but I’ll say this: I’m no stranger to that experience. By any stretch!

Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi – 24 [Final]

I’d heard nothing about the series Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister until I read some of FlareKnight’s previous posts on Anime Evo. FlareKnight’s reviews caught my attention with his descriptions of the characters and situations. I thought that maybe I should check out the show, sooner than later. Now I just read FlareKnight’s review of the final episode, and now I know I should give it a shot. Did you see it? See if you noticed the same things that FlareKnight did!

The Apothecary Diaries Episode 35 – Under the Waterfall

I joke at lot about my backlog, and I’m sorry about that. It’s just that it’s on my mind a lot because it’s become a symbolic representation of my lack of time. But if I may presume upon your good will, I’ll make yet another mention of my backlog by saying that of all the shows that I haven’t seen, The Apothecary Diaries is at the very top of that list. I say that partly because of reviews like this one by 7mononoke on the site Anime Rants. I particularly enjoyed reading 7mononoke’s insights about Maomao. Go see what you think!

The Apothecary Diaries, episode 35

The most recent episode of The Apothecary Diaries seems to have been dramatically powerful, given the coverage it saw this week. Take, for example, this review by Theron on the site USA Anime. Theron talked about how this episode developed some of the arcs and themes from previous episodes, and it sounds like the show is on track to deliver quite an emotional punch in the next episode. I had to admire the delicate way that Theron talked about the episode’s closing moments. Very tasteful while not sacrificing clarity at all! I appreciate that in a post.

  1. TCrow, I made what I believe is a correction of my previous write-up. I previously thought that all of Julius’s possessions also disappeared, but after thinking about it I decided that probably wasn’t the case based on what happened to some people who had their names and memories eaten.

My understanding is that Julius’s name being eaten means the world forgot about him, but I don’t believe his possessions also disappeared as was the case for Rem. When Lye Batenkaitos was shown eating three members of the White Dragon’s Scales’s name and memories, they were shown breaking into pieces like glass and reforming as if their new forms in suspended animation are different entities than what they were before, which would explain why Rem’s (and probably theirs) possessions disappeared since she had become a shell that was not her true self, and reality adjusted to account for that erasure of her existence.

    1. I think of all the powers within the Re:Zero universe, that’s one that puts me most on edge. It’s just so arbitrary! The idea that a person’s life could so easily be dismissed is very disturbing.

      1. Granted, I don’t know whether Rem’s possessions truly disappeared or whether they were just thrown out ’cause nobody could remember her. I don’t think the answer would be clear unless I read the novel directly to confirm it as I’m just speculating.

Please let me know what you think!
