Shiunji-ke no Kodomotachi – 04
Anime has the ability to change my mind faster than any other medium. For example, when I saw The Shiunji Family Children was coming this season, I dismissed it out of hand. But reading FlareKnight’s reviews about the show on Anime Evo has turned me around on the series. Did the series change my mind? Or was it FlareKnight’s enthusiasm? Why not both? Why don’t you head on over to Anime Evo and see what you think!

Let’s Watch: UMA MUSUME – CINDERELLA GRAY Episode 4 – “The Junior Crown”
The Magic Planet makes a bold statement about Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray. Namely, that it “is, very plainly, the best thing airing right now.” Is that bold statement something I can endorse? Well, I might not have time to watch all the shows this season, but the ones I’ve seen, I like quite a bit. But you know what’s the most telling indicator of how much I like it? Despite my time constraints, I make time for Cinderella Gray every week. In fact, look forward to it! So, yes, I endorse the idea that it’s the best of the season. Why? Well, you’ll have to head over to The Magic Planet to find out!

Merlin’s Musings
The Not-So Lonely Life in Another World
I think my focus on celebrating anime probably makes it seem like I ignore reviews that say anything negative. Not so! Yes, I prefer positivity, because I’m by nature profoundly negative and I have to do something to keep on the positive side of the ledger. But I absolutely love an honest discussion of flaws within a show, if that discussion is from the perspective of someone who understood the show. Criticism for the sake of criticism is cheap in every sense of the word. But a critique from the perspective of knowledge? I can’t get enough of that. Which is probably why I so enjoyed this post by Merlin on the site Merlin’s Musings. Merlin talked about what worked in Loner Life in Another World, and he talked about what didn’t work. And reading both was a blast. Go see what I mean!

Anne Shirley, Streaming on Crunchyroll
I like the classics as much as anyone. More than most, probably — I was an English major and loved stuff from writers like Hawthorne and Poe. But when I saw that Anne Shirley was coming out as an anime, I decided on the spot it wasn’t for me. I just didn’t think I was in the target audience. But tonight, I read this post by Burkely Hermann on Erica Friedman’s site Okazu. There are a lot of ways to gauge the quality of a review, but one of my tried-and-true methods is this: do I want to watch the show after reading the review? And in this case, the answer is a resounding yes! I’m frankly shocked. If you want to see a review that made me change my opinion, head on over to Okazu!

Rock Is a Lady’s Modesty – 05 – Caught in the Tornado
Unlike a couple of the other shows we’ve discussed, Rock Is a Lady’s Modesty was high on my list to watch this season. I decided to review Fire Force Season Three instead because I reviewed the first two seasons and loved every minute of them. After reading this review by magicalchurlsukui on the site RABUJOI, I might not regret my decision, but I am looking forward to binging this season more than ever. I mean, check out magicalchurlsukui’s description of how this episode compared to Bocchi the Rock! — that’s good stuff! In fact, maybe you should go read it now!

TCrow, here is my write-up on Episode 5 of Kowloon Generic Romance.

I think this episode backs up what I came to conclude about the world in Episode 3.
Thanks for the link! Fascinating analysis, too!
I like Cinderella Gray too. Been reading the manga since 2023.
Cool! I’m still amazed at the quality of work Cygames is putting out. I hope they did the manga justice!
There were some changes that I noticed when Cinderella Gray transitioned to anime. Some I liked, some I didn’t. I guess that’s just me being nitpicky.
Why thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed my review so much! 😀 I do try to keep things balanced and fair, of course, so I can talk about what works and what doesn’t with my eyes open, ya know? 😉
You’re welcome! And your approach makes the post more enjoyable to read, i think!
Hello! Thank you for the link. As it happens, that post was not by me, but by Burkely Hermann in a guest spot for Okazu. Thank you for the kind words, though!
Cheers,
Erica

Oh, yeah — and it’s right there in the byline! Thanks for pointing that out. It should be corrected now!
