5 Favorite Anime Blog Posts from 2025 Week 29

Every week, I visit almost 230 anime sites looking for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. These are my five favorite posts for the week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

You can see a list of the sites I check here: Massive List of Sites!

My Dress-Up Darling – 14

It’s tough to review My Dress-Up Darling every week without beginning to sound repetitive. “Marin is awesome.” “Wakana’s lack of confidence made him miss a clue.” But a lot of anime bloggers pull it off, week after week. This week, FlareKnight, on the site Anime Evo, gave me one of my favorite examples of a My Dress-Up Darling reviews, and he did it with his trade-mark attention to detail. His mention of the glue-stick is a perfect example! Go see what I mean!

Dueling Plots: Insomniacs After School

I haven’t seen Insomniacs After School (yet), but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this post by The Overage Otaku on the site Confessions of an Overage Otaku. He talked about its dueling plots, as you can see from the title. It caught my attention because it’s a technique that I adore — for the reasons he talks about. It’s very, very tough to weave together multiple arcs in a satisfying way. It’s something I’ve attempting for years. Reading The Overage Otaku’s post, I realized I’m on the right track — and I have more ways now to gauge my progress! See if you get something similar out of this article!

First Look: New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

I’m not particular to post formats. There are times I love to read a long, in-depth, and complex analysis. There are other times when a quick summary, if it brings up interesting points, is every bit as satisfying. This post by Gee-Man on the site The Glorio Blog is a perfect example. It got right to the point about what made New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt special — and I think he nailed it. The answer’s so simple, too, but only he pointed it out!

The Summer of Love VII with A Certain Magical Index: The La Regina, Academy City Invasion and Skill-out Uprising Arcs!

A Certain Magical Index II is one of those series that I could watch over and over. It’s not only because I enjoy the main characters like Index and Touma, but also the secondary characters like Accelerator and Agnese. Is the show perfect? I don’t think that’s the right question. I think the right question (to start), about any work of art, is this: is the show entertaining? In this post, Dewbond, on the site Shallow Dives in Anime, answers that question in his usual well-balanced and clear style. His answer makes perfect sense to me! Go see what you think!

Shoot the Rookie

The Rookie Watches… Bocchi the Rock!

Bocchi the Rock! is another show I intend to watch over and over — but not right away. The show hits too hard, in some ways — especially with how the show depicts Hitori’s struggle with anxiety. That perspective plays a huge role in the show, and I knew that. But it took this post by pix1001 on the site The Rookie Watches to illuminate a point that was sitting right in front of me. And I had somehow missed it! After reaching this post, I now appreciate the show even more — and that’s saying a lot! See if you already noticed this point!
