Every week, I visit almost 220 anime sites looking for posts that celebrate amazing moments in anime or otherwise blow me away with their wit and charm. These are my five favorite posts for the week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Fall 2025 Previews
Yep! It’s almost time for the fall 2025 season to kick off! < Insert jokes about how time flies, or sneaks by, or something > Here’s the site I found this week that had previews:

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle
I was going to make a joke about you maybe hearing of that tiny little movie called Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. But really, who hasn’t heard of it? The Demon Slayer franchise is probably the most popular anime on the planet right now. So that begs the question: was the movie any good? FlareKnight, on the site Anime Evo, just weighed in. Even after admitting he’s not a hard-core fan, he had a lot of interesting points to share. Did he enjoy the movie? Was it worth the time to watch? Well, I’ll say this: for not being a hard-core fan, FlareKnight has a great grasp of the characters! Go see what you think!

The Modern Classics
It’s tough to declare something a classic, if it’s more or less contemporary. So often, art needs time to prove its worth. But, as Virsus points out on the site Animated Observations, anime hasn’t been around long enough. It’s not like we can compare MacBeth to its contemporary anime series, after all! Any conversation about classics will have to play by slightly different rules. Rules that Virsus describes, then immediately adheres to as they lay out the series they believe should be consider modern classics. And you know what? I found nothing to disagree with! Go see if you think the same!

Merlin’s Musings
The Gorilla God’s Go-To Girl’s High School Love Story
I think Merlin’s on a quest (on the site Merlin’s Musings): find interesting, worthwhile series that we’ve never heard of. Okay, to be fair, by “we’ve” I should probably say “I’ve,” because there’s a strong chance you’ve seen more series than I have. Regardless, this week Merlin found The Gorilla God’s Go-To Girl. I took one look at that title and thought, “Is this a spin-off about Chitoge ‘Gorilla’ Kirisaki?” No, it’s not. In fact, it’s quite different, and Merlin does a great job describing how. It sounds as if it might be a perfect anime to watch in times like these. See if you agree!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle Part 1: The Ramblings of an Old Shonen Fan
Reviewing a movie like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, given its popularity, is a challenge. Some reviewers (none of the ones I’ve celebrated here!) might try to tear it down just to get the clicks. Some might honestly adore it and have nothing negative to say at all. Others, like Dewbond on the site Shallow Dives in Anime, might not exactly love the series or movies, but might take a more balanced view. I liked Dewbond’s approach to this review as much as I liked the review itself (which is to say, a lot). Being honest while respecting not only the artistic work but its fans is no small feat, but Dewbond made it look easy. Go see if you think the same!

Anime Review #154: Pom Poko
If you hear someone mention Studio Ghibli, what’s the first movie you think of? I’ll bet most of us would pick a different title (I’d probably go with Princess Mononoke), but I’m pretty sure most of us would have some answer. Studio Ghibli has some produced a lot of memorable titles. This week, The Traditional Catholic Weeb, on the site The Traditional Catholic Weeb, talks about a title I’ve not seen: Pom Poko. As if sensing such an unlikely event, The Traditional Catholic Weeb wasted no time in saying that the movie is about Tanukis. Talk about setting the tone! What did The Traditional Catholic Weeb think of the movie? What were his favorite/least favorite parts? You know how to find out!

Just dropping in to say that I can vouch for both Pom Poko (one of my fave Ghiblis) and Gorilla God’s Go to Girl (a completely unsurprising but charming show about kids who don’t always get the animal-god blessing they want).
Thanks! I just added Gorilla God’s Go to Girl to my Crunchyroll queue. I don’t have HBO Max, where Pom Poko’s streaming. Looks like the DVD/Blu Ray is available, though.
TCrow, here’s my next Re:Zero theory based on Re:Zero’s first key visual in 2015. I believe that there may be an unknown force observing Subaru through birds. I also believe that in addition to said force, there’s also Satella and Echidna as well, given the number three is important in Re:Zero, who have all been eyeing down Subaru since he first came to Re:Zero’s fantasy world. I believe they are all working together to push Subaru to break the cycle of the world constantly being destroyed and reconstructed that has been alluded to by Melakuera in stating that he has faced world-ending crises countless times that’s most likely the result of an unrevealed Authority that affects the story path of the world.

I forgot to link it.
Let’s say this theory is right. Who’s the real villain here, then? Who’s put the world on this course. In other words, who is Satella’s and Echidna’s opponent? I’m guessing there would have to be one, or else they wouldn’t have to go to these lengths.
Does that question make sense?
The question does make sense, but I don’t know whether we’ve even met the real villain. Maybe we’ve seen the person before, but it’s also possible that we haven’t.
I also read the post by Shallow Dives, it was really good! I totally know the feeling of being a former shounen fan, but still watching series occasionally. I was great to get the perspective of someone that knows about shounen anime, but can also give an objective view from a non-fan, or more of fan light.
