Secrets of the Silent Witch – 11
We’re to the point in the season where promising characters either prove their worth, or go off the rails. I suppose the could just fizzle, but I’d consider that under the rails category. Anyway, I’ve been following FlareKnight’s coverage of Silent Witch on the site Anime Evo, and I’ve really enjoyed his notes on the main character, Monica. We’re up to episode 11 — did her arc do something interesting? FlareKnight had thoughts on that. I’ll just say this: this review confirmed my decision to put Silent Witch on my backlog!

ANIME REVIEW | “Mikadono Sisters” Demonstrates the Power of Three
Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze was on my short list of anime to watch this season. I like a good harem series, and this looked like it might fill the bill. The problem is that harem series, for me at least, are very much hit or miss, with too many misses to blindly watch. So, I let it pass and watched for reviews. Which didn’t show up. It seems few reviewers followed it. “Few,” not zero, because King Baby Duck just reviewed the series on Boston Bastard Brigade. Did King Baby Duck think this was a hit or a miss? Do I regret not watching this as it aired? There’s one way to find out!

Character Analysis: Rentaro Aijo
Remember how I said harem series can be hit or miss? Well, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You is one of those series in the former category. That surprised me, because given the concept, it should be ridiculous to the point of being unwatchable. Yet, the humor completely charmed me. By the end of the first episode, much to my astonishment, I not only bought into the premise, but I really liked both Karane Inda and Hakari Hanazono. But as much as I liked them, I think the series would fall apart without the main character — the subject of this analysis by The Overage Otaku on the site Confessions of an Overage Otaku. As usual, I think The Overage Otaku nailed the topic. Go see why this show works so well!

The Question of Strength—Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -Infinity Castle- Part 1
It can be hard to review a movie like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. The weight of fan expectations, coupled with fan response volatility, can make reviewing a movie like this rhetorically dangerous. But I think that sdshamshel, on the site OGIUE MANIAX, hit on exactly the right formula: tell it like it is. Reviews written in that spirit are often my favorites, and this one certainly qualifies. Whether you’re a Demon Slayer fan or not, this review is a lot of fun to read. Go see what I mean!

Review: Girls Band Cry
I know that 3D CGI animation has a bad reputation in some circles. But I find that I often enjoy it, if it fits the material. For example, Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova- is one of my favorite anime, in part because of its animation. I haven’t watched Girls Band Cry yet, but I knew its animation was based mostly on CGI, and I was curious. Well, after reading this review by Ragashingo on the site Ragashingo.com, I’m even more curious. And it’s not just because of the animation. What did Ragashingo say that was so compelling about the series? Head on over to find out!

TCrow, here’s my next Re:Zero theory:
https://thoroughwatch.org/?p=183
Interesting thoughts! I’m really looking forwarding to finding out who the “big bad” turns out to be.
Same here. I don’t watch or read One Piece, but some speculate that the final boss is actually Imu after a certain reveal, someone they’ve actually long known, so I wonder whether Re:Zero will have a similar approach with it being someone revealed a long time ago or whether it’ll be someone we haven’t seen before.
