Ten Years Later: Monster Musume Anime
I like Monster Musume. How much do I like Monster Musume? Enough to induct it into my Caw of Fame. Which is to say, I don’t like it quite as much as Re:CREATORS, but still quite a lot. Though I first watched it years ago, I still hope to find new posts about it. This week, I found a kinda new post — it’s a revisit review by Dan Mansfield on the site The Fandom Post. The post’s a good introduction to the characters and the situations in a way that highlights why the show was so memorable. Fun to watch, too! Anime Intro: May I Ask for One Final Thing?
Do you like strong women characters? I do. Quite a lot, in fact. A character with strength (and intelligence and will and grit and all those other cool things) are just a heck of a lot more fun to read than the “Oh please save me” trope (a rhetorical straw woman, of course, but it’s just to get the idea across). This affection is likely why I’m so excited about May I Ask for One Final Thing? and its main character, Scarlet “Ice Rose, The Mad Dog Princess” el Vandimion. Guess who else seems positive about the show? ChibiChonk from Filthy Casual for Life, that’s who! Reading her post was a lot like re-watching the first episode, and that’s a very good thing. Go see if you agree!

Zom 100: It’s the End of the World…But I’m Feeling Fine!
Good Lord! I just realized I never finished watching Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead! My reviews leave off at episode 9. Back when it first aired, the studio had to pause production. Maybe it was a COVID thing? But damn, I need to go back and finish it. This post by Hanime on Anime on the site Hanime on Anime reminded me of this problem. After all, she talked about the final episodes. Of course, she talked about more than that, too. The other bits were what got me excited about getting into the series again. I could use some more Shizuka Mikazuki in my life. Beatrix Amerhauser, now that I think about it (see my notes about strong women characters, above). Go see what Hanime on Anime has to say about one of the more unique takes on the zombie apocalypse!

Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze: A Different View of Masculinity
Do you want to read a controversial statement that ought not to be controversial? Here goes: I think men should be men. Depending on your position on the artificial construct called our political spectrum, you probably made a set of assumptions about what I mean — or what I’m hinting at. However, it’s actually a trick statement, because I didn’t define the terms. See, what it means to be a man varies from culture to culture, from epoch to epoch — and from man to man. It doesn’t matter what individuals on the political spectrum have to say about it. It’s a fact that identity relies on a number of variables, few of which the political discussions capture.
That’s why I liked this post by Chris Kincaid on the site Japan Powered. I appreciate Chris Kincaid’s rational, scholarly approach to topics like this. Relying on a careful analysis of the facts (an approach which itself has oddly become the target of political ire), he took a look at the series Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze with an emphasis on how Yuu Ayase expresses who he is. It is so refreshing to read a perspective that treats the material with the respect it deserves. It’s no coincidence that such an approach almost always yields cool insights — which is the case here!

Dandadan Season 2 is Peak
You should probably sit down for what I’m about to say. It’s that shocking. Ready? I finished Dan Da Dan Season 2, pretty much as it aired! Aren’t you glad I warned you? See, It’s one of those shows I couldn’t not make time for (kind of like SPY x FAMILY this season). As I watched it, I sensed my reaction to this season differed from my reaction to the previous season. Honestly, I ignored that insight. I wanted to enjoy the show without thinking too much about it. The same can’t be said for Jonah Alexander Hunt on the site Jonah’s Books & Rants. He brought his analytical skills to bear on the most recent season, and I’m glad he did. Now I can saw why I liked the second season so much! Go check out if he talked about what made the series fun for you!

Well, TCrow, it turns out Terenezza from May I Ask For One Final Thing? was from Earth after all. I’m still leaning towards her secretly driving Scarlet to be the protagonist though based on her sending out pink flowers in the ED.
I finally got to watch that episode today. This certainly makes Terenezza more interesting! And you’re right — it doesn’t hurt your theory about what Terenezza’s trying to do.
