Halloween Watches for a Spooky Mood
There’s something reassuring about the re-discovery of seasonal celebrations every year. It’s pleasant, for example, to begin talking about Halloween and its associated scary stuff in October. For me, a lot of Halloween’s appeal revolves around the creativity of the costumes and the ingenuity of some of the stories. Speaking of the latter, Virsus, on the site Animated Observations, has come up with a list of four fantastic anime stories to watch to give your year a sense of spooky continuity. I can personally vouch for about half of them (and yes, I’m embarrassed that I haven’t seen all four!). Go check how many you’ve seen!

Oh, So Trope-ical: The Loser(s)
When you hear the word “loser,” what comes to mind? It’s a seemingly simple question, but The Overage Otaku, on the site Confessions of an Overage Otaku, uses it as a springboard to examine the ways the trope can be used. Notice the “s” on ways! I expected one of the ways, and I bet you did, too. But the other gave me additional insight into some series that I’ve enjoyed in the past. I think that’s one of the reason I enjoy reading The Overage Otaku’s posts — they give me new perspectives I can use to enjoy anime even more! Go see what you think!

Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Part 2 Episode 3 Review
I’ve always enjoyed DoubleSama’s character and plot analysis on the site DoubleSama. He’ll take small clues, clues I might have missed, and assemble them into educated guesses about what the character will do, or where the plot might go. In this post, DoubleSama examines Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Part 2 and the character Toni Bianca. I gotta say: he caught some fleeting details that I’d missed. He even assembled them into an insightful theory. What do you think of his prediction for what happens with Toni Bianca and the upcoming race?

My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 is Adorable
It’s hard to express just how much I liked My Dress-Up Darling Season 2. Put another way, there’s very little about it that I didn’t like. The show provided perfect characters and situations to highlight the developments between Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojou. I still can’t forget Akira Ogata’s scream or Nowa Sugaya’s super blunt question! Turns out I’m not the only one who enjoyed the series. Jonah Alexander Hunt, on the site Jonah’s Books & Rants, just posted this critical review of the season. I say “critical” to mean he objectively applied his skills as a writer and viewer to study the series, and he still came to the conclusion that the season was, as it says in the title, “adorable.” Go see why he said so!

Letโs Watch UMAMUSUME: CINDERELLA GRAY โ Episode 16 โ โThe Worldโs Bestโ
I love the coverage that Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Part 2 is getting this season. It still feels odd to admit to myself that this franchise represents my favorite sports anime, given the complexity of the stories, the depth of its characters, and the overall visually delightful animation. miss yuri sorcereur, Dark Horse, on the site The Magic Planet, examined those aaspects of the most recent episode and focused on the relatively new character, Obey Your Master. There were two points in this episode where Obey Your Master made the hair on the back of my arms stand straight up, and miss yuri sorcereur, Dark Horse nailed why (among other things!). Go see if you agree!

Appreciate the shout-out and kind words, thank you friend ๐
You’re welcome! Thanks for the list — I now have another reason to try to get back into the third show you listed!
TCrow, here’s my next theory on Re:Zero:
https://thoroughwatch.org/?p=194
This latest episode of May I Ask For One Final Thing? also smacked down my theory about Terenezza trying to make Scarlet the protagonist, so I will no longer insist on there being merit to that theory. Terenezza calling Scarlet a villainess suggests that back on Earth, Terenezza either read a novel or played a game involving the characters in May I Ask For One Final Thing?’s story, and Scarlet was the villainess in that novel or game, meaning the premise is a lot less original than I thought even though the show is still fun to watch.
Did Terenezza give you a slightly crazy vibe? Like, maybe she was obsessed with fairy tales back on Earth, and this is just a fantasy world she’d been isakeai-ed into?
I think I’d prefer that to Terenezza playing the game that Scarlett was in. I like Scarlet too much to consider her a villain. The prince seems taken with her, too.
Though the dude best be careful! She was going to smack him at the end of the episode!
Although Terenezza could just be crazy, it’d be weird to just randomly refer to Scarlet as a villainess unprompted.
Scarlet obviously wouldn’t be the villain of this story if she were the villain in the novel/game. I think this show is refreshing in that the villain Terenezza was the one who was summoned rather than the heroine, that is unless Scarlet was also summoned but forgot that fact. Saint Diana looking forward to meeting her “Big Sister” is an interesting development since it maybe suggests that she and Scarlet are sisters in some sense, either ’cause of a blood relation, ’cause of them having been sisters back on Earth (Not sure if this is the case), or ’cause of her highly respecting Scarlet for some reason. I look forward to finding out just what the situation is.
