How Not to Summon a Demon Lord: Most Astonishing Addition of Plot

One instant, Diablo is playing with Rem’s cat ears with abandon. The next instant, real plot. Not anime “plot.” Real plot! What is this delivery? Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

What do you get when you combine a isekai genre series about a cat-girl and elf who summon a shut-in demon lord and accidentally turn themselves into his slave? All the while having various articles of clothing compromised or flat-out falling off? Would you believe me if I said you get an engaging plot and multi-dimensional and interesting characters? No? Well, I wouldn’t blame you. But that’s exactly what How Now to Summon a Demon Lord has give us! I was about to give up on the show until Anime Q and A convinced me otherwise! I was having such a hard time processing the show going from Diablo going from rubbing Rem’s ears until she orgasmed to him pledging to support her against a demon curse that basically isolated her from the rest of the population — and earning her tearful, heart-felt gratitude in the process! That’s a lot to process for an isekai show! But this show’s done an amazing job of maintaining its balance between well-animated fan service (Shera L. Greenwood is probably one of the sexiest elves like, ever) and realistic politics and world building. Yes, I used the words “realistic” and “world building” non ironically in this context!
