Caw Out Award: Most Compact and Happiest (Yet Most Restrained) Strategic Weapon of the Season

You know how tactical weapons are like assault rifles and machine guns? Militaries use the to fight against other military units. They're effective on an enemy that's about your same size -- human sized, for example!

And you know how a strategic weapons are like thermonuclear missiles? Used to destroy countries or planets at a time?

Well, we saw a strategic weapon in action this week!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has had more than its fair share of interesting characters. The title character is a reincarnated slime named Rimuru Tempest. He's stupidly powerful. Like, bordering on overpowered (OP) powerful. I say "bordering on" because in episode 19, the show treated us to what OP really looks like.

A few episodes back, we met Millim Nava, a Demon Lord. She had three distinguishing characteristics. First, she was high energy. Like, bouncing off the walls kind of energy! Honestly, her enthusiasm was fun to watch! Second, she didn't wear many clothes. It fit her uninhibited character, but she is, let's say, very well preserved for her age of 500 -- she makes Rory Mercury look mature, if you catch my meaning. And third, when she faced off (momentarily!) against Rimuru, he knew instantly she was way more powerful than he was. He didn't even bother trying to fight her because he knew he would lose.

At that time, we didn't get to see what she was capable of. In episode 19, Charybdis, we did.

This is Millim exercising "restraint." I'm not convinced she knows what that word means! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream

Rimuru and his entire entourage (including some characters with proven combat power like Ranga, Shion, and Souei) had been fighting all day against a new threat named Charybdis. The best they could do is inflict what Rimuru called 30% damage. This was including Rimuru himself fighting hard! Rimuru had asked Millim to stay out of the fight, but towards evening, he learned some plot stuff that made him change his mind.

She was ecstatic and promised to exercise restraint.

Charybdis, the monster that was almost like a force of nature, lasted every bit of 1/2 second against Millim. Her attack utterly obliterated the creature.

Charybdis, the monster that stood all day against the combined might of Rimuru's kingdom -- with support from his allies! -- didn't even last a second against Millim. In restrained mode! This is the last known picture of Charybdis in one piece. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream

Millim was irrationally pleased with herself! Not only had she destroyed the monster with a single strike, but she felt like she'd delivered on her promise to be restrained. And you know what? She's so effervescent and free-spirited that I couldn't help but feel happy on her behalf.

Rimuru seemed relieved. It's good to have friends who have your back!
