Demon Slayer – Swordsmith Village Arc Episode 4 Quick Summary
In Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc episode 4, “Thank you, Tokito,” Muichirou Tokitou stopped to save Kotetsu. Just in time, too — the demon was about to swallow him. But this demon didn’t die merely by Muichirou slicing off its head. Can he protect Kotetsu and get back to the village in time? Meanwhile, Genya had been gravely wounded. Tanjirou was locked in mortal combat with one of the demon divisions, and Nezuko had been impaled. Do any of them have a chance of surviving until Muichirou can get to them? And where is Mitsuri Kanroji?

These demons were tough for even a Hashira like Muichirou to kill. They had creepy eyes, too! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Muichirou had saved Kotetsu from being eaten, but the demon didn’t die when the Hashira cut its head off. But he’s calm and rational, even in combat. He soon sees a possible target. But while he’s busy saving Kotetsu, similar demons flood through the village. Tanjirou has his hands full with the flying demon. Genya can’t do much with a spear piercing his chest. And the demon who has her in its grip seems to be more playing and less fighting.
How will Tanjirou fight his way back to Nezuko? Will we ever see Genya fire his double-barreled shotgun again? And will this episode reassure Irina — or confirm her fears?

I don’t know if you continued reading on Irina’s blog, TCrow, but I posted an alternative to Tanjiro picking up the shiny blue rock when he was on the verge of death being a divine power.
If the stone didn’t give Tanjiro divine powers, it could also have contained a special essence of sorts. Those were the only two things that came to mind regarding what the stone could do.
Thanks for the heads up! Between work and family obligations, I get precious little time to keep up with comments of past posts! So, if you see a delay, I apologize — I read everything and comment when I can. And in this case, you helped me not miss a comment — thanks for that!
It occurs to me that if modern firearms are available, it is foolish not to give them to everyone involved. In fact, why don’t demons have guns?
That’s a great question! We saw that Genya’s gun had an effect. Even if somehow the demons can’t die unless that particular kind of steel delivers the blow, I have to imagine a mini-gun with a full magazine could still slow them down.
Heck, make every 10th bullet out of that steel. Then let’s see what happens!
And I have to wonder — how would demon physiology reach to a fuel-air explosive, or a fusion bomb? I can’t imagine they’d walk away from either unscathed!
This might be too early for those bombs but they are definitely far along enough for cartridge ammunition.
I have often wondered why you would cut somethings head off and then watch while it grows back. These are demons. I’d be slice them up into hamburger or torch them the instant I saw something was up.
Genya’s gun was a shotgun. Some blessed steel shot should do a real number. Wasn’t there a flowering tree demons couldn’t tolerate? Coat the shot with that.
But that would ruin the romance of fighting mano a mano with a blade.
