Demon Slayer – Swordsmith Village Arc Episode 8 Review

Demon Slayer – Swordsmith Village Arc Episode 8 Quick Summary

In Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc episode 8, “The Mu in Muichiro,” Muichirou might have found himself freed from Gyokko’s watery prison, but he’s insanely weak from Gyokko’s poison. In spite of that, he tried to help the gravely wounded Kotetsu. The acted reminded him of something from his past — a scene with his father. And that ignited a series of memories of his past. Will those memories help him? Or weaken him? And why did he have amnesia in the first place?

Well, this was a surprise! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Finding out about Yuuichirou was quite a surprise. What impact did he have on Muichiro’s life? Why does he look so angry in that screen capture (hint: it’s not a unique event!)? Where is he now? The answers to these questions have a huge impact on who Muichiro was — and who he is now!

Genya, and Nezuko — against what is essential four top level demons. What chance do they have?

  1. TCrow, given how Muichiro grew markings on his body and wasn’t feeling the poison in his body, I believe this further points towards essence theory. He probably channeled the essence of either the original Mist Breathing user or the strongest Mist Breathing user much like Tanjiro channeled Yoriichi in an earlier episode.

    1. That seems reasonable — and if that’s not the right answer, I’m sure you’re on the right track. I’m looking forward to seeing how the story ties it all together!

  2. An interesting episode of demon slayer. One anime I need to get back into, and this one episode seems to have a bit of lore and character building. Well done and always a rad time to see you and Irina’s collab on anime. :3

    1. Thanks!

I did enjoy its exploration of Muichirou’s past, and of their possible connection to the original Demon Slayer. I wouldn’t mind more of that kind of thing!
