In Fire Force episode 13, “The Trap is Set,” Benimaru Shinmon leaves the members of the 8th Special Fire Company to investigate their claims. Sagamiya Konro, injured from breaking up the right between them, stays with them to give them a quick history lesson. Meanwhile, Benimaru arrives in the town center and finds everyone accusing everyone else of foul play. Quickly realizing this is exactly what the 8th Company warned him about, he tries to decide what to do — just as multiple Infernals appears across the city. With everyone at each other’s throats, will Benimaru and the 8th be able to protect the citizens? Will the Fire Companies be able to uncover who’s behind the attack? And what’s going on with the twins all of a sudden?

In Fire Force episode 14, “For Whom the Flames Burn,” Akitaru Oubi and the other members of the 8th Special Fire Company can do nothing as the citizens of Asakusa fall farther and farther into panic. Sagamiya Konro knows there’s only one answer: Benimaru Shinmon must step up and address the people! But he’s reluctant to take on that role. Can Konro convince him in time? The planned to compare notes and come up with a plan. Can Hibana turn off Princess mode long enough to cooperate? Or will she really make Karim sit on the floor? In Fire Force episode 19, “Into the Nether,” Victor Licht analyzed the remains of Vulcan’s home and figured out where the Evangelist’s troops came from: the Nether. So, Akitaru Oubi petitioned the church for permission and ordered the 8th Special Fire Force Company to descend into that dark place. Shinra remembered his mother using the Nether as a scare tactic for his child self; Arthur just wanted to see what’s down there; and the rest of the crew ranged from stoic to terrified. What they don’t know is that Sho was aware they’re coming and prepared a “reception.” Can our heroes conquer their own fears — as well as counter whatever attack Sho’s troops level at them? Surely they’ll be okay if they stick together, right?

In Fire Force episode 20, “Wearing His Pride,” Shinra came upon an Ashen Knight who has taken Victor Licht hostage. If Shinra didn’t surrender, the knight said he’ll slit Victor’s throat. So why is Victor talking about “Rapid?” Meanwhile, Takehisa Hinawa found himself pitted against Arrow, while Yona and Mirage watched. Takehisa and Arrow both used distance weapons. Both hammered the other mercilessly. Who will give out first? And when will Yona and Mirage join in? Finally, Vulcan and Akitaru Oubi come upon two opponents they were probably least prepared to face: Lisa and Giovanni. As Vulcan tried to woo Lisa to his side, Giovanni dropped an emotional bomb: He had been the one to train Lisa for her mission to infiltrate Vulcan’s home. With Giovanni reasserting his terrifying power over Lisa, she had little choice but to obey. Is there anything Vulcan or Akitaru can do? And where the heck is Arthur?

But his strength was waning, and Sho looked as fresh as ever. Will Shinra be able to learn anything new and useful to use against Sho, who can selectively stop time? Or will Sho claim Shinra as an offering for the Evangelist?
