Episode 13: A Pair of One-Eyes
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 13, “A Pair of One-Eyes,” Captain Burns of the First Special Fire Force Company confronted Joker in the depths of the Holy Sol Temple. Both were ready to throw down when Benimaru said he wanted in. What will Burns do when faced with such a powerful double threat? Later, the Eighth Company became aware of new evidence that the Haijima company might know more about the Evangelist’s relationship to Amaterasu. Shinra thought of a perfect person to investigate: Victor Licht, who used to work there. Coincidentally, the company’s president wanted to talk to Victor about what he said in his report on the incident on the Chinese peninsula. In the meeting, the president ordered him to deliver Shinra to them. Will Victor do as they asked? And did he know of the danger lurking behind their polite words?
Episode 14: The Ashen Reaper
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 14, “The Ashen Reaper,” Victor Licht confessed to the gathered members of the 8th Special Fire Force Company that he was a Haijima spy. The reaction was slightly different than what he had expected. Akitaru Oubi agreed that sending Shinra into Haijima, even knowing it was a trap, was probably the best way forward, so Victor and Shinra made the trip. As they walked through the compound, the sheer number of guards made it clear: they were not getting out again easily. But when they arrived at the testing facility, they found that the real problem was even worse.
Episode 15: A Three-Way Melee
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 15, “A Three-Way Melee,” Shinra battled against Kurono in an attempt to give Victor Licht time to find Nataku Son. As the fight wore on, Victor got his confirmation and called in the 8th Special Fire Force Company to extract them. However, the 8th ran into problems almost immediately: The Puppeteer easily flipped their match box. While Vulcan and Maki dealt with her, the others went in search of Shinra and Victor. Their situation quickly went from bad to worse when yet another faction showed up — a faction Shinra was not at all happy to see.
Episode 16: Mind Blown
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 16, “Mind Blown,” the three-way battle between Fire Force, Haijima, and the White Clads continued unabated. Maki held her own against Arrow, at least until Haumea stepped in. Meanwhile, Ritsu entered the fray. Using a spell called Necro Pyro, she put Shinra, Oubi, and even Kurono on their heels. And that was before Haumea injected her own brand of insanity into Ritsu’s attack. Does Shinra have any chance of retrieving Nataku Son? Is it even likely he’ll survive long enough to try? Can Vulcan find Arthur and get him to the main battle, since he’s the only one who’s effective against Haumea? And just what is the Puppeteer up to?
Episode 17: Boys, Be Weak
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 17, “Boys, Be Weak,” the battle between Haijima, Special Fire Force Company 8, and the White Clads raged on. In a flashback, we learned that Nataku Son’s mom expected him to succeed perfectly at everything, and for a very good reason — her abusive husband would take it out on her if Nataku didn’t. Driven to madness by those expectations, egged on by the mental ghost of Rekka Hoshimiya, Nataku prepared to unleash an attack that cowed even Ritsu. Shinra, the self-proclaimed undefeatable hero, himself prepared to die. Can anything stop the looming attack? Will Inca finally get a thrill that’s too much for her?
Episode 18: The Holy Woman’s Anguish / The Man, Assault
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 18, “The Holy Woman’s Anguish / The Man, Assault,” gave us two episodes in one. In the first, we’ve known that Iris has had doubt about the Holy Sol Temple since season 2 episode 11, when Shinra and friends returned from China with word that the Evangelist had been instrumental in founding her church. What has that knowledge done to her faith? In the second half, Assault, having just recovered from his defeat way back in Season 1 Episode 19, had thrown himself into training. The defeat had utterly humiliated him. Now, he was ready for revenge against his most powerful adversary, Tamaki Kotatsu. Wait. Tamaki? He sees Tamaki as his most powerful enemy? Yes, and he’s ready to take her on again, after a grueling training regime. Does he have a chance against her awesome might?
Episode 19: The Oze Family
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 19, “The Oze Family,” Maki Oze visited home to have dinner with family — her father, General Danrou Oze, her mother Madoka Oze, and her brother, Lieutenant Takigi Oze. The dinner was cordial, with Madoka strongly enforcing general rules of etiquette. However, there was an undercurrent of disapproval. Danrou didn’t want Maki in Fire Force, because of their conflict with the dangerous White Clads. Things took a turn for the worse later when Takigi encountered a White Clad during an investigation. The devastating violence that meeting triggered forced Danrou’s hand. Will Maki actually have to leave Special Fire Force Company 8? Can they get along without her strength? Almost as importantly: Will the Oze family survive another breach of etiquette with Madoka on the case?
Episode 20: Weapon of Destruction
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 20, “Weapon of Destruction,” members of the 8th Special Fire Force Company like Shinra, Arthur, Takehisa Hinawa, and Akitaru Oubi split up and temporarily joined squads from the 2nd Special Fire Force Company under the command of Gustav Honda. The goal of their operation was to hit several White Clad laboratories at the same time. The hope was that if they struck all at once, the White Clad’s resources would be stretched too thin, and the labs would not have advance notice of the attacks. The plan started to go awry as soon as they entered. They immediately encountered dozens and dozens of Infernals. The platoons weren’t aware of two key things. First, Ritsu was there, and her power to reanimate dead bodies immediately began to work against our heroes. Second, she wasn’t the only enemy to arrive on scene. Who was this new enemy? How many death flags can members of the 2nd Special Fire Force raise? And was leaving Arthur alone with the 2nd a good idea?
Episode 21: Enemy Contact
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 21, “Enemy Contact,” Tamaki stayed by Takeru Noto/Juggernaut’s side until his eyes closed. Was he dead? Just unconscious? Tamaki had no time to find out, because Infernals closed in on all sides. Will she retreat? Or hold her ground in the hopes someone rescues them? In another Nether location, Takehisa Hinawa and Takigi Oze waged a battle on their own. But it wasn’t clear if it was against the White Clads or each other. Shinra is in an even more dire situation, though he doesn’t know it yet. He was about to meet his worst enemy yet — an enemy who delivered the news about the true nature of this operation in the Nether. Can Shinra stand the truth? Will he be able to do anything about it? Because if he can’t, more than his life — or the life of the remaining Fire Force soldiers — will be lost.
Episode 22: Plot for Extinction
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 22, “Plot for Extinction,” Shinra and Arthur continued to battle Dr. Giovanni, whose insectoid form and abilities proved more than a match. It was only when Giovanni mentioned that Haumea was even now toying with Shou that Shinra decided to get very, very serious. Meanwhile, Viktor Licht figured out Ritsu’s plan. The White-Clads intended to use all of the Infernals as a shaped charges to completely destroy the Tokyo Empire. Viktor has an idea, but he needs certain resources to put it into place. For example, he needs a 2nd Generation Pyrokinetic who can control vast areas of fire. If only they had one, they could turn the tide! But in the Nether, where-ever can they find such a Pyrokinetic?
Episode 23: Firecat
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 23, “Firecat,” Shinra and Hibana visited Konro to ask him about the time he and Shinra connected via the Adolla Link. Hibana expressed suspicion, and she doesn’t have a lot of affection for the 7th Special Fire Force Company. Hibana’s worst fears seemed confirmed when they found Konro apparently meeting with a White-Clad in a remote location. But their perceptions were far from reality. Why did Konro meet with a White-Clad? What is Hibana so suspicious of not only Konro, but of the entire 7th Special Fire Force Company? And what does Tamaki have to do with any of this?
Episode 24: Signs of Upheaveal
In Fire Force Season 2 Ep 24, “Signs of Upheaval,” Shinra and Arthur tried to continue their training with Benimaru. But it just seemed to go in random directions! First he lets them roast over an open flame. Then he let random townsfolk drag them through the streets behind a hand-drawn cart. Finally, when Shinra and Arthur both tried to vent their anger against Benimaru, he decided to vent his on anger on them. Tamaki, looking on, expressed grave concern. Can Shinra and Arthur stand up — at all! — to Benimaru? What’s Benimaru’s plan for them? And while they’re training, what’s going on with Captain Hague of the 4th Company?
