Fire Force Season 3 Episode 4 – Quick Summary
In Fire Force Season 3 episode 4, “Golden Secret,” Hinawa faced off against Gold. No matter what he, Maki, or Tamaki did, they could not defeat Gold’s defenses. Licht couldn’t deduce the source of her power, so he couldn’t help the 8th Special Fire Brigade defeat her. With their strength waning and Gold’s apparently limitless, Hinawa knows he has to move fast. But what can he do? Meanwhile, has Burns finished his power-up? And where the heck is Arthur?
Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.
Favorite Quote from Fire Force Season 3 Episode 4
Hinawa might feel no shame. I’m not sure Maki’s on board. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
How far was Hinawa willing to go to save the 8th? Pretty far, as it turns out.
Licht and Vulcan, with Tamaki’s help, finally figured out that Gold could keep them immobile using magnetism and the single piece of metal in their uniforms: their belt buckles. Hinawa wasted no time – he took definite action.
He dropped his pants.
Gold seemed to think it was “unsightly.” Hinawa did not share her perspective. Or if he did, it did not matter to him.
“We strip every year for the nude calendar! We feel no shame!” he said (09:41).
Here’s a bonus favorite quote: Gold, interested now that she knew commerce was the topic, asked (09:48), “Does that pay well?
“Since you live in the Nether, it seems you do not know,” he answered (09:50). “It sells like crazy!”
Good to know they’re exploring alternate revenue sources.
Favorite Moment from Fire Force Season 3 Episode 4
The forces that bind us… Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: Shinra Chilling
For a second there, I felt like I was watching an episode of Dr. Stone. I kept expecting to see the caption “Anti-Gold Weapon Acquired” pop up.
And is it just me, or did Shinra seem to be excessively stationary this episode? Now, I”ll retract that statement if it turns out he and Joker had a plan all along, and it involved keeping Burns immobile. Still that whole tableau dinged my enjoyment of this episode.
I think these guys started, and ended, the episode in the same positions. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
But not entirely. The episode gave us some enjoyable moments. Arthur’s entrance, the way he one-shotted that Destroyer, felt perfect. Tamaki taking the Destroyers to task for not working together was also a cool moment. But my favorite moment is a reminder, at least to me, of what I like most about this series.
It wasn’t very long after my favorite quote. They’d tried Tamaki’s fireball attacks. They’d figured out that Gold was using magnetism, but they couldn’t come up with a counter attack. What they needed was more time.
Lisa stepped up.
She’d had a rough way to go, her plight culminating back in episode 20. Giovanni had wounded her deeply. I’d begun to think that the show had forgotten about all that. Not so.
Delivery: Lisa Overcomes Her Past
As Vulcan tried to think of a countermeasure, Lisa walked to the front of the line. That shocked Vulcan, but nonchalantly, she asked him if he’d forgotten what her power was. I’m glad she brought it up, because candidly, I’d forgotten! Fortunately, she came out and told us it was (10:25) “Fishing Fire. My flames are magnetic. They should disrupt her magnetic fields at least a little.”
I forced myself to forget that this conversation went on as Gold and the other Destroyers looked on.
Lisa decided to get into the fight. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Vulcan and Maki asked her if she’d be okay. At first, she answered with some bravado (10:40): “I’m a former Feeler of the Knights of the Ashen Flame.”
Then she paused and became a little more honest, saying (10:48), “I was your enemy, but Captain Obi welcomed me in. Maybe my feelings don’t run quite deep enough… but I want to save Captain Obi!”
That’s why I like this series. It’s not the polite villains waiting for the 8th Special Fire Brigade to figure out a plan. It’s not them using Tamaki’s backside to melt iron. No, it’s the sense of family among the main characters. They’ve got each other’s backs. They want to see each other succeed, and they’re willing to go to great lengths to see it happen. If you’ve spent any time at all in the corporate world, you probably don’t need me to say this, but I will: that’s a rare trait.
It should be treasured whenever you find it!
What did you think of Arthur’s re-entry into the story? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
