Freezing Episode 7 – Quick Summary
In Freezing episode 7, “Sanction,” Rana learned that Attia had tried to use her to teach Satellizer a lesson. Unfortunately, Kazuya had spoiled that plan. So, Attia called on two other third-year students, Arnett and Cleo, to finish the lesson. But only after first knocking Kazuya unconscious! Can an already battered Satellizer and Rana stand up to their seniors? Was knocking Kazuya out worth the risk? And how far is Attia willing to take the lesson?
Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.
Favorite Quote from Freezing Episode 7
Maybe it’s just me, but she doesn’t look very intimidated here. Capture from the Blu Ray.
Satellizer has demonstrated time and time again that she’s not inclined to back down from a fight. With the exception of losing the first match we saw her in – all thanks to Kazuya losing his mind because of his sister’s Stigmata – Satellizer has been powerful and resolute.
That didn’t change in this episode.
She and Rana had beaten on each other – both giving a solid accounting of themselves. That’s when Attia broke in, flanked by Arnett and Cleo, and disclosed this was all part of her plan to teach Satellizer a lesson. And she would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn’t been for that meddling Kazuya!
In an attempt to appear oh-so-superior, Attia said that as a show of magnanimity, she’d let Satellizer choose either Arnett or Cleo to administer the beating.
“”No need,” she said, preparing for a fight (01:09). “Both of you, come at me at once.”
Gotta admit: I loved Atilla’s engaged reaction. She’s a pretty little creature, and I like seeing her attitude get adjusted.
Favorite Moment from Freezing Episode 7
Chiffon’s speed seemed to surprise pretty much everyone! Capture from the Blu Ray.
Setup: A Tough Sequence
I have never liked scenes depicting sexual assault. On one hand, I can see how the scenes served the narrative. It explains why Satellizer is how she is. But this one rubbed me the wrong way because the instigator was a nine year old boy. According to the statistics I found, perpetrators are under 17 only 15% of the time. Nine seems too young.
Those statistics demonstrate clearly that as a society, we have a lot of work to do.
That wasn’ enough to ruin the episode forme, but it was enough to make me want to skip that section. It’s even more disturbing on subsequent viewings.
At least Violet tried to advocate for Satellizer! Capture from the Blu Ray.
That said, I’d like to share my second favorite moment. It was going to be my favorite until my real favorite showed up. Rana’s an honest young woman. That honesty let Attia (you know – it just occurred to me that “The Hun” might not be out of place after her name) fool her. But it also let her see the truth.
After Arnett knocked Kazuya unconscious, Satellizer acted instantly. Rana observed that, thinking (03:56), “When Kazuya was hurt, Satellizer… Those were not the eyes of someone using another! Those eyes… without a doubt, they were…”
Insights like that endear me to a character. Rana’s still Satellizer’s rival, at least in Rana’s mind. But she’s not going to let those feelings blind her to facts. That’s an attitude I would love to see expressed more often!
Delivery: Chiffon is Not to be Trifled With
On to my favorite moment.
I’ve liked Chiffon Fairchild from the moment we met her. Those smiling eyes clearly hide a powerful capability. After all, she’s considered one rated Pandora among a very powerful population. We got to see just the barest hint of that in my favorite moment.
Chiffon and Ticy Phenyl (who’s ranked #3) arrived just as Attia, Arnett, and Cleo were going to murder Satellizer and Rana. Chiffon ordered them to stop. But Arnett, her battle lust overruling her good sense, attacked anyway. Ticy intervened.
Ticy was as much trying to protect Rana and Satellizer as Arnett! Capture from the Blu Ray.
Arnett didn’t take the hint. She said if Ticy wanted to defend the other two, she’d share their fate. She prepared to attack again.
There was a blur. Then a chop that was so powerful, it dropped Arnett instantly. Chiffon was standing there, having delivered said chop, and said in a calm voice (19:43), “I said no, didn’t I?”
That silenced Attia and Cleo’s objections. Well, it silenced Arnett, too, but that’s because she was unconscious. It was a show of authority and skillful force – exactly what I would expect from a highly rated Pandora. Given the behavior we’ve seen from students like Attia, Arnett, and Cleo, it was a relief to see that some students are actually responsible!
What did you think of Chiffon not even backing down from Elizabeth? What were you favorite moments? Feel free to share in the comments!
