Healer Girl Episode 6 Review – Quick Summary
In Healer Girl episode 6, “Become My Servant • Russian Food and Sweet Dreams,” Sonia’s boss hurt her back, so Kana, Reimi, and Hibiki stopped by to help with her patients. However, Sonia apparently misunderstood their relationship, because she kept referring to them as “servants.” How long will Reimi put up with that? Later, Sonia drafted Kana to help with their stall at the culture festival. At the request of the patients at Sonia’s clinic, Sonia had promised to cook authentic Russian cuisine for them. Unfortunately, she has no idea how to cook that kind of food. Neither does Kana! Who can they turn to so they don’t have to disappoint their patients?

Favorite Quote from Healer Girl Episode 6
Kana is a practical young woman. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
This episode gave us glimpses into Sonia’s character. It’s to Healer Girl’s credit that Sonia isn’t just an arrogant know-it-all — i.e., a single note character. Though, that’s a good starting point for her!
At the beginning of this episode, Sonia gave what seemed like an aristocrat’s welcoming speech to new servants. It was a running joke through the episode that Sonia didn’t quite know what a servant was, but one thing was for sure: She saw herself as the most important person in the room.
At one point, Sonia dismissed Shinobu, her usual assistant, and asked Kana to help her.
“Kana,” Sonia said, keeping the imperial attitude going. “I will allow you to learn at my feet.”
Kana’s a practical young woman. That’s why she responded with (07:04), “That seems unsanitary.”
Well, she’s not wrong.
Best in Show Moment for Healer Girl Episode 6
Sonia is more than an arrogant brat. And I think that’s great! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: Sonia Is More than a One-Note Character
This episode gave us a better feel for who Sonia is and what’s important to her. A moment featuring her is my favorite of the episode, but before I talk about it, I want to call out another scene that struck me.
Kana had just left some of her classmates. They lamented how easily Sonia had convinced Kana to serve on the executive committee. In fact, they worried how easy it was to convince Kana to help others – going so far as to say she would easily fall for a scam! So together, the pledged (11:24), “If that does happen, we’ll protect her!”
What kind of young woman is Kana, if she has earned a reaction like that?
Also: Why does Ria seem to need a lot of sleep, when the other characters don’t?
I’m still not sure Sonia knows what “servant” means. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Anyway, back to Sonia. I won’t say she bullied Kana into being on the executive committee. I won’t even say Sonia bullied her to cook Russian cuisine. Kana readily accepted. But Sonia didn’t withdraw the “request,” even when she saw Kana working herself hard.
But then, Sonia did something that surprised me. And it was completely in character. We know that Sonia has talent to back up her arrogance. She also follows the rules, because she wants to change them. As she said in this episode, she can’t change the rules if she’s seen to break them. So at heart, she at least understands there’s a process that she needs to follow.
Delivery: Sonia Uses her Talent to Help Others
But she is also willing to use her skills to help others, even if she’s not asked. When she and Shinobu found Kana asleep in a classroom, Sonia smiled and said (20:00), “For heaven’s sake. She’s too nice for her own good.”
Sonia put a can of coffee on the desk so Kana would see it when she awoke. Then Sonia did something I did not expect, but that in retrospect made perfect sense. She sang a song of rejuvenation for Kana (20:09).
The song was so strong it actually reinvigorated the entire student body. Many of them were working after hours on the culture festival. But she sang it to Kana, who, along with Shinobu, were the only two in the musical image space that Sonia created.
Kana didn’t wake up, but she sure seemed to be enjoying herself! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Sonia didn’t need to do that. Someone with her arrogance might have thought it beneath her. But she’s more than a one-note character. She’s arrogant, yes. She also has the skills to justify a lot of self confidence! But she’s also an empathic healer who spontaneously helps the people around her. I appreciate that kind of contradiction, or at least complexity, in a character!
What did you think of Reimi’s reaction to Ria accepting the invitations to visit the cultural festival? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
