Jobless Reincarnation II Episode 10 – Quick Summary
In Jobless Reincarnation II episode 10, “These Feelings,” Rudy goes through a normal day packed with activities. Now that he meets regularly with Shizuka Nanahoshi, he has little time to talk to Fitz – much to Fitz’ dismay. When Rudy seeings Fitz out and about with Luke Notos Greyrat, Fitz more or less ignores him. Did Rudy push Fitz too far? Has Fitz’ insecurities gotten the best of them? And what has Badigadi been up to?
Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.
Favorite Quote from Jobless Reincarnation II Episode 10
This little dwarf matched Badigadi drink for drink. I guess that’s a dwarf for you! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
I keep forgetting that Juliette is a dwarf. In this episode, she reminded me. With Badigadi’s help!
Rudy, Juliette, and Zanoba sat down for lunch. Rudy tried to ignore the whispers all around extolling his powers. He wisely didn’t want them to give him an inflated ego. Somehow, Badigadi found them, his four fists filled with tankards and/or pitchers of alcohol.
Not wanting to drink alone – who does that, he asked – he offered to share. Zanoba wanted in on that. I’m not sure if he smelled the aroma, or just the idea of slamming down alcohol during his school lunch break appealed to him.
Juliette’s reaction really got my attention. She not only wanted to drink – she could tell it was high quality stuff. Badigadi expressed surprise that she knew her alcohol at such a young age.
Rudy told Zanoba (07:15), “You’d better not. You have class.”
Zanoba, disappointed, listened to Rudy’s advice.
Juliette, though? She matched Badigadi drink for drink. I guess dwarfs are dwarfs, regardless of what show they end up in!
Favorite Moment from Jobless Reincarnation II Episode 10
Rudy realized Fitz was indeed the key to his cure – and he was willing to wait until the right time! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream
Setup: They Grow Up So Fast
I’m anime-only, so I have no idea where this is going. But was I the only one who wondered about Rudy giving Cliff the idea to transfer curses to objects? I just had a bad feeling about it! Like something dreadful was going to happen.
On the other hand, this is Jobless Reincarnation. Of course something dreadful’s going to happen!
We talked before about how much Rudy has matured over the years. He started out as utterly self-centered and self-absorbed. In this episode, I think he showed huge improvement in two ways, and they are, taken back to back, my favorite moment.
Has there been a more “anime moment” in this series than Rudy tripping and falling, and Fitz trying to catch him but ending up straddling him? How many times have we seen that exact same scene? Jobless Reincarnation put its own spin on things, of course. It was a huge dramatic reveal: Fitz has no penis!
It was about this time that Rudy made an important discovery! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Yes, it’s Jobless Reincarnation. What other show uses the lack of a body part of part of a huge dramatic reveal?
This was on top of Rudy wondering if he was actually gay, because he was self-aware enough to know he had fallen in love with Fitz. Dramatically, it made perfect sense, and the narrative presented it with authenticity and understanding. That alone was impressive. But it wasn’t impressive enough – to me – to be my favorite moment.
Delivery: Rudy Thinks of Fitz’ Situation
Nor was it my favorite moment when Rudy said (20:56), “Mister Fitz… you really are a woman.” That had to be mortifying for Fitz/Sylphie, not because it was true, but it was true in a context not of her choosing. I found it hilarious that after she left, Rudy said (21:11), “This is a big deal.” I was thinking it; it was cool to hear him say it. But it wasn’t quite my favorite moment, either.
No, that was Rudy saying (21:40), “Mister Fitz definitely holds the key to curing my ED, but I can’t get any more intimate with her now.”
Rudy made that decision for one simple reason: he was thinking of what Fitz needed. Certainly, she needed to keep her cover. Maybe, she would get in trouble with her Princess (Rudy had no way of knowing Ariel had given Fitz the green light to handle the situation however she wanted). But despite his really, really wanting a cure for ED, he was ready to wait, because he cared about Fitz and didn’t want to make trouble for her.
The only downside to this scene? Fitz’ panic. She’s been through a lot. It wasn’t any fun seeing her come under yet more stress! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Rudy’s come a long way – and nothing proves that more than him being patient about an ED cure. It’s been great seeing him grow up so much – and I’m sure we’re going to get to see more! Now, I’m just dying to see Fitz reveal her true identity. I have a feeling she’s going to learn that all of her doubts were entirely misplaced.
What did you think of Rudy asking Badigadi’s advice for curing ED? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
