Jobless Reincarnation II Episode 4 – Quick Summary
In Jobless Reincarnation II episode 4, “Letter of Invitation,” we see the story of Rudy and the 20 member party slaying the dragon – from the party’s perspective. It wasn’t quite what I expected! Later, drawn by the stories extolling Quagmire, Elinalise Dragonroad entered the bar where Rudy was eating. She attracted quite a lot of attention, including Rudy’s. She had been looking for Rudy. Her message, though, surprised him. What news did she have to give him? Will she try to seduce Rudy – like she has with almost everyone else? And how will Rudy react if she does?
Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.
Favorite Quote from Jobless Reincarnation II Episode 4
Did you notice how much more confident Rudy seemed? Very different from his earlier conversations! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
It’s been a while since we saw the man god/Hitogrami, hasn’t it? Rudy thought so, too, because one of the first things he asked was why Hitogami didn’t answer when he prayed for help searching for Zenith.
Apparently, Hitogami can twerk now. I believe I could have lived my whole life without knowing that.
Be that as it may, Hitogrami earned my favorite quote in this episode. Rudy tried to do the responsible thing. He tried to continue his search for Zenith before fulfilling his desire to further his education.
Hitogami was in no mood for Rudy’s magnanimity. After performing his dance right in front of Rudy’s face (seriously, Hitogami, WTH?), he said Rudy really should go to college.
“Do this, and you shall regain your manly potency and pride,” Hitogami said (19:59).
Talk about hitting below the belt!
Favorite Moment from Jobless Reincarnation II Episode 4
So that’s what a tour de force looks like! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: It’s OP Week!
This is my week for OP characters getting to cut loose. First, I got to watch Tsugaru Shinuchi unleash a world of hurt on a vampire in The Headliner Appears, episode 4 of Undead Murder Farce. In this episode, we get to see Rudy show us what he can do.
I think curb-stomping a blizzard like he did a couple of episodes ago might be a greater achievement, but man, what he did in this episode felt nothing short of amazing.
Remember near the end of the previous episode, when Elinalise heard the story of a 20 member party taking down a dragon? She knew immediately that the party included Rudy. So when this episode started and we saw Rudy with Soldat’s party, I thought, “Cool! We get to see how it happened.”
I think the dragon might be in a bit of trouble here… Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Soldat’s party was just about to finish up a fight against some grizzly bears when the dragon just dropped out of the sky. It had used the cover of snow to sneak up on them. Now, its eyes flicked this way and that, looking for targets. It surged forward. Now, before I go on, I want to mention that I’m bit of a dragon connoisseur. My favorite anime dragon is likely the fire dragon from Gate, especially episode 17. Was this dragon on par with the fire dragon? It was close. The design was solid. Overall, I prefer the dragon from Gate, but I’ll tell you what: when this dragon surged forward, all four legs propelling it onward, it had weight. It had presence. I felt terrified on behalf of Soldat’s party.
Delivery: Rudy Steps Up and Stomps
I was completely wasting my time.
Rudy told them to scatter – that he’d cover for them. He “covered” for them by conjuring sharp, massive rocks and hurling them through the dragon’s wings, grounding it. When he tried to crawl to him, he liquified the ground. As it sank, he froze the ground. Then he smashed its head with an even bigger boulder (03:02).
Soldat’s party could not believe their eyes. Well, except for Soldat. He looked like a proud father!
Doesn’t Soldat look like a proud papa here? Well, a proud papa with a dash of blood lust thrown in… Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
A party of 20 with Rudy in it didn’t kill the dragon. Rudy killed the dragon with a party of 20 spectators. And yet, even after that display, Rudy remained humble. He said the dragon was half dead anyway. But that scarcely mattered. He took it down, single-handedly, with freaking ease.
Remember the last time we saw someone handle a dragon with even less effort? That was back in episode 8, when a dragon landed, too one look at Orsted, and noped it way back into the sky. I wonder what that says about Rudy?
What did you think of Elinalise’s approach to recreation? What were your favorite moments in the episode? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

I need to catch up to this show. I enjoyed what I saw of it! But I never got around to the Season 1 review I wanted to do for it. Well, whatever; it’s still a great show!!
It’s never too late! I’d love to read your review of season 1!
Elinalise ought to be able to raise the dead, let alone Rudy. What was it? Two years? I find it difficult to think that he’s still mourning Eris after all this time. Maybe the twerking God has something to do with it.
I like how they showed her as a sexually active woman without looking down on her. No guilt tripping, no slut shaming. Though I guess supposedly it is a curse, which kind of ruins it.
The twerking god would have scarred my brain for life.
I did have to laugh at how Elinalise is so overwhelmingly attractive that she had to pay men not to get attached to her. Rudy tried to tell himself her very existence was a crime — but his expression showed that was just an attempt at an excuse.
I think. I tend to read things into gestures.
I have tried to not to spoil myself with Elinalise’s backstory (okay, that unintentionally came out with more meanings than I intended), but I’ve read it’s a curse, too. At the very least, curse or not, no one’s trying to tear her down. That’s a healthy thing.
Didn’t she appear earlier in the show? Like over on the demon continent?
I think she did. She freaked out poor Roxy with her escapades! But I don’t think they talked about her curse, though I might have forgotten.
Most amusing moment for me, personally: when every man in the inn was looking at Rudy and Elinalise getting close, and then, as one, looking dejected on Rudy’s behalf when the forward momentum was lost.
Considering how Elinalise is, and how Paul was and still is, it doesn’t take too much to imagine that things got particularly heated between the two of them, which, personally, would make her possibly hooking up with Rudy just a little too awkward.
I like how Rudy completely and perfectly misunderstood the Man-God. He assumes that the magic academy will have some way to cure his condition, but that is not what the Man-God said. Sylphie is probably the answer, she being a girl that Rudy has been close to, now as grown up as he is, and won’t be of a mind to leave him. Though, her connection to the princess complicates that particular issue, and, as this is one of the original isekai harem stories, I imagine something will go wrong to make room for the possibility of Roxy.
Also, I notice that they said Zenith is living as a carefree adventurer, but that rings very false with her character. Something tells me she’s trapped somewhere in the labyrinth, and Rudy needs to level up his magic – which he mentions has plateaued – in order to save her.
…and I have to wonder just why the dragon was half-dead already. What did it run into that left it like that?
That moment made me laugh! Though, I have to thank you for mentioning it — I had missed that part when I watched it for the first time.
I think that Sylphie is a perfect match for Rudy — the more mature version that he is now. He would have hurt her before. Now, though, maybe, just maybe, it might be a strong relationship. But, yeah, that princess is going to be an issue.
I felt the same way about Zenith. I wondered why Elinalise would lie. Your answer is the best I’ve heard — that she knew even Rudy isn’t ready, and if he’s going to save Zenith, he needs to level up. I like that answer.
Good question about the dragon!
Damn you. Why did you bring up the twerking? I’d almost wiped that from my mind…
Okay, in my defense, I had hope talking about it would purge it from my mind.
I was wrong.
Horribly, horribly wrong.
I’m very sorry!
