Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 11 – Quick Summary

In Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 episode 11, “Turning Point 4,” Rudy and his party may have brought back the antidote to Shizuka’s malady, but it hadn’t been tested. Could they trust Kishirika’s assurance that it will work? Can any good come from listening to Kishirika? And what does Perugius have against Princess Asura?

Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.

Favorite Quote from Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 11

Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 episode 11: Rudy's reliable

It’s nice to know Rudy’s a trustworthy young man. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

In concept at least, it’s not hard to be a good man (or woman – I’m only saying “man” because that’s the gender with which I have first-person experience). You say you’re going to do something, and you do it.

See? Simple.

But so often, trivial things come up and distract us. We “get busy.” Something comes up with “a higher priority.” Whatever. It’s too easy sometimes to come up with an excuse not to be a good man.

Rudy has proven once again that when all’s said and done, he’s a good man. Years ago (it seems longer!), he promised to help Ruijerd. A lot’s come up, but Rudy never strayed from that goal. Even better – he inspired the people around him to help. In this episode, Zanoba baited Perugius into agreeing to help popularize a figure of Ruijerd.

My favorite quite was Rudy’s reaction to realizing what Zanoba was up to.

“That’s another step towards rehabilitating the Sperd’s reputation,” Rudy said to himself (09:41). “Just you wait, Ruijerd.”

The world would be a better place with more good men (and women).

Favorite Moment from Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Episode 11

Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 episode 11: Rudy saw a ghost

That didn’t go where I expected. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Setup: The Greek Gods Got Nothing on This Guy

That smile (19:51). If I had any doubts about The Twerking Man’s (the Man-God’s) intentions, that evil, evil smile dispersed them. There’s no way Rudy saw it. If he had, there’s no way he would have gone anywhere near his basement.

Not knowing what Hitogami has in mind for Rudy is worse than knowing in this case. Because my imagination got straight to work building scenarios. And none of them were pleasant.

That wasn’t my favorite moment. I won’t give Hitogami the satisfaction of claiming it. But man that smile gave me chills. And it was only on screen for a split second!

For the entire episode, I kept expecting something terrible to happen. I kept expecting Damocles to say, “Hey! Like my new sword?” What did I expect? No idea. But a sense of potent dread hung over every second I watched. It got worse towards the end, because the episode was running out of time, and there were no smoking craters in Rudy’s life – or his chest.

Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 episode 11: Shizuka felt grateful

Her gratitude overcame her. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

I wanted to say that Shizuka’s “Thank you” (04:08) was my favorite moment, because it was so touching. Rudy reaffirmed that he was going to help her get home. Her appreciate was so profound that she wept. How beautiful a moment was that?

But even as I tried to type it into this post, I couldn’t deny the moment that really smacked me up side the head. I think you know what it is. I bet it hit you hard, too.

In its most simple form, my favorite moment was Rudy not doing something. He didn’t go into his basement. Put that way, it’s a bit anti-climatic, isn’t it?

Delivery: The Forbidden Name

Rudy was about to do a “favor” for that grinning god. He was about to check his basement for something unusual. Who knows what it might be. All we know is that it was hideously dangerous; so dangerous that Rudy –

I’m getting ahead of myself. Rudy was about to go into the basement when he thought he felt someone behind him. No one was there when he turned, and he verbally dismissed it. By that was a diversion. He spun, ready to attack.

And saw an old man sitting there. Disappointed. Seeming to feel like he had failed. Rudy asked his name. Rudy’s eyes went wide and his entire body shook.

Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 episode 11: I should have recognized the eyes

I should have been able to tell from the eyes. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

As I’m sitting there wondering who the hell the old man was – having a terrible feeling I knew – Rudy thought (21:39), “It was a name no one in this world but me would know. A name I was going to take to my grave. A name I didn’t even want to remember. The name of someone who doesn’t exist in this world.”

By this time, I’m terrified Rudy’s not going to tell me who it is. I feared he would make me wait another week. Then he dropped the bomb:

“It was my name in my previous life.”

Okay, that’s bad. Whatever’s in that basement triggered a chain of events that forced future Rudy to break time to warn himself. And now I have to wait at least another week to find out what it might be.

I knew I couldn’t trust that twerking bastard…

  1. >And what does Perugius have against Princess Asura?
Now that I think of it, there are strong parallels between Perugius’ attitude towards Ariel and Soldat’s initial attitude towards Rudy. With the latter being more refined to suit their status.

  2. Just off the top of my head, I don’t think there is anything in the basement. I think Rudy being in the basement would keep him out of the way, for just long enough at just the worst possible moment, for something truly terrible to happen to his family. Specifically, and mostly because of a gut feeling rather than any piece of evidence, either his daughter or his wives, specifically because of things that might happen in the future if Rudy’s brood gets to grow up.

    1. Of course, we’ve seen the episode by now — and probably two past it (and sorry it’s taken me so long to respond!). But you had the idea of what was coming! Man, that stuff was hard to watch in all the best ways!

Please let me know what you think!
