Episode 1: The Compass Pointed to the Darkness
In Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 1, “The Compass Pointed to the Darkness,” Vueroeruko tried to leave her old wretched life behind. She signed up with Wazukyan, Belaf, and other social outcasts to follow where a strange compass led. The compass did not seem to have helped its previous holder, as Vueroeruko learned when they found his smoldering ship. Will it lead them to better fortune? Why had the other ship burned? And what did the man on the burned ship mean about a golden city?
Episode 2: Capital of the Unreturned
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 2, “Capital of the Unreturned”, Riko, Reg, and Nanachi arrived on the sixth level. Their exploration almost ended when Riko plunged into a trap door. Only Reg’s fast thinking saved her. Between the three of them, they began to understand how the sixth level showed its dangers. That is, until an unseen danger visited during their sleep – despite their comprehensive precautions. What kind of being is stalking them? What did it take from them? And will they survive long enough to find out?
Episode 3: Village of the Hollows
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 3, “Village of the Hollows”, Riko, Reg, and Nanachi moved deeper into the new village they had discovered. Partly lured in the hopes of finding Prushka, Riko’s White Whistle, and partly in the hopes of finding food and shelter, they followed Majikaja. It became increasingly apparent that they weren’t communicating, but Riko pushed forward with enthusiasm. Is the problem one of language? Or is there something deeper going on? Just how safe are they in this village?
Episode 4: Friend
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 4, “Friend,” Reg finds himself outside of the village’s protective shield and face to face with… who? Or what? At least one of the creatures felt familiar to Reg, but he couldn’t be sure. Should he delve more deeply a past they might have shared? Or should he run for cover? Meanwhile, Riko and Nanachi make discoveries of their own. Will Riko’s culinary discovery as last time? And will Nanachi ever be the same?
Episode 5: Concealment
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 5, “Concealment,” Reg had two immediate problems. First, he had attracted the attention of a turbinid-dragon, which seemed intent on making a meal out of him. Second, he had gotten completely lost. Could he make it back to Riko before she does something insane? Meanwhile, Riko tried to learn the local language from Moogie, who let slip she also would like a human child. Then – and you saw this coming – Riko did something insane. How insane? What were the consequences? And do we find out what happened to Nanachi?
Episode 6: The Luring
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 6, “The Luring,” Belaf forced a terrible choice on Riko: in order to save Nanachi, Riko had to give up her eyes, her legs, or half of her internal organs. Riko gazed down at Nanachi, who slumbered, nestled with the copy of Mitty. Riko tried to think of how she could exist without any of the things that Belaf wanted. What will she decide? How will Reg react? And would Nanachi say – if she ever regains consciousness?
Episode 7: The Cradle of Desire
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 7, “The Cradle of Desire,” we rejoin a much younger Vuelo Eluko, a much more human Wazukyan, and the rest of the Ganja back when they arrived in the sixth level. From the instant they met the Interference Units, things began to go wrong. And from there, things only got worse. Not only were the creatures of surpassing ferocity and cunning, but there was no water to be found. Can they go back up the same way they came down? If they can’t, can they find water? More importantly, can they find water that is safe to drink? And if they can’t, hope do they have of survival?
Episode 8: The Form the Wish Takes
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 8, “The Form the Wish Takes,” Reg leaves the village in search of Faputa. Somehow sensing he would come looking for her, she had waited for him just outside. And then she did something that freaked him out. Vuelo Eluko continued telling the tale of the village’s founding to Riko. Wazukyan was determined – very, very determined – to save everyone in the village. And he saw Irumyuui as the instrument of that salvation. How will Vuelo react to Wazukyan’s resolve – and the form it takes? And how will Riko respond to the full tale?
Episode 9: The Return
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 9, “The Return,” Reg made it back to the village with Faputa’s body parts. His plan? To trade those parts for Nanachi. But there’s a problem: just showing those body parts to Belaf might break him, according to Vueko. Reg and Riko will have to decide what to do quickly: even the village seemed to be reacting to Faputa’s parts. What will Reg and Riko do? What insight did Riko have about Wazukyan? And what will it mean for her fate – and the fate of them all?
Episode 10: All That You Gather
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 10, “All That You Gather,” Belaf released Nanachi and Mitty. But there was a catch. How will Nanachi react to it? How will Mitty? Meanwhile, Reg regained consciousness to find Faputa in the middle of a bloody rampage. Only Riko and a handful of villagers remained standing. Can Reg reason with Faputa? Or has she bought too much into her revenge destiny?
Episode 11: Value
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 11, “Value,” Faputa seemed to have gotten the jump on Reg. Was she seriously going to bite off his head? And regardless, will she be able to fulfill her destiny of destroying the villagers now that the outside creatures are streaming into the village? And what will happen to Riko and Nanachi?
Episode 12: Gold
In Made in Abyss – The Golden City of the Scorching Sun episode 12, “Gold,” the village’s destruction accelerated. More and more creatures of the Abyss streamed in, attracted by the feast whose source was the villagers. There were even 2 turbinid-dragons! Riko, after boosting Reg with her White Whistle, faded in and out of consciousness. Reg himself tried to fight beside Faputa. But there were too many creatures. With the village crumbling around them, with so many hungry creatures wanting to eat them, do they stand any chance of exiting the village? And what about the remaining inhabitants?
