Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 11 Review – Quick Summary

In Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 11, “Species 11: Everyday Life with a Dullahan,” Zombina and Tionishia ran out of patience. They were sick of guarding Darling-kun as he went on fake-dates to flush out the mysterious “D”, so they decided he would take them – and Manako – on dates until the perpetrator showed him or herself. They did not count on the Law of Unintended Consequences. And that was only the start of Darling-kun’s problems!

Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 11: Tio helped prove Darling-kun is indestructible

It’s a good thing one of Darling-kun’s superpowers is indestructibility. Capture from the Blu Ray.

Tionishia (a.k.a. “Tio”) is an ogre. No, I don’t mean she’s mean and/or brutish. She’s actually a very nice young woman! I mean she’s actually a member of the race of ogres. That means she is both very tall and very strong. As Darling-kun found out, she’s also really, really fast.

Tio was the first member of the MON Squad that Darling-kun took out on a date. Though with Tio, it’s more like she took him on the date. She would see a stall selling a new kind of sweets, so she drug him along. Literally. He dangled at the end of arm as she raced to the stall. Next was a new fashion, or a new idol single release.

As Tio looked at the single’s cover, Darling-kun, in a crumpled heap on the ground, tried to catch his breath. He heard Zombina’s voice in his earpiece, and she asked (02:04), “Hey, Boyfriend-kun, how is it you’re not dead?”

“I’m used to this,” he said with a rueful grin.

Apparently, all of the experience he earned by being on the receiving end of the other Monster Girls’ “affections” paid off!

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 11: Even Zombina appreciated feeling noticed

Her open, almost vulnerable expression spoke volumes. Capture from the Blu Ray.

Setup: Using Ecchi to Present Universal Ideas

The series has done a really good job developing the theme of found family and accepting people wherever they are. Sure, the message is easier when the person you’re accepting is a wildly attractive Monster Girl, but that doesn’t make the message any less valid. It’s just delivered in a fun way with very attractive packaging!

Hey, if it gets the point across, I’m comfortable with that.

Darling-kun has already worked his supportive magic on the Monster Girls who live with him. In this episode, we got to see do the same thing with three of the four members of MON. They’re trained professionals, and their experience in the field built up their confidence, especially for Tio and Zombina. My favorite moment happened after Darling-kun took Zombina on their fake date.

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 11: Darling-kun's date with Tio went well-ish

Tio’s date with Darling-kun seemed to go well, by Monster Girl standards, anyway! Capture from the Blu Ray.

He took her to a zombie movie, which is kinda hilarious if you think about it. Afterward, she got animated talking about it, only to realize one of her hands had fallen off. Zombie problems, I guess.

They ducked into a manga cafe’s private room where Darling-kun could put his sewing skills to good use. Zombina watched him work in amazement. After he apologized for only having cotton thread (and I think he can be forgiven for not having anything that was suture-grade), she asked him if he really wasn’t grossed out – if he was really okay with sewing her hand back on. Most people in her experience had looked “grossed out” if a bit of her fell off.

Delivery: Zombina Felt Touched, in More Ways than One!

“If I saw a real corpse, I’d probably be grossed out, but you’re you, Zombina-chan. So, I’m okay,” he said, giving her his best Darling-kun smile (06:34).

Whatever she was feeling, it froze her for an instant (06:42). The emotion in her expression fit her character perfectly. It also conveyed how much his words meant to her – even more, what his honest sentiment meant to her.

She’s such a joker that to get back at him for that feeling, she undid the stitches on her left breast so he’d have to sew it back on. But in that moment, she felt just like they were two people on a date. He treated her as she deserves to be treated in general, and because that was different to her, it made her feel affirmed and even attractive (at least, given what happened when he tried to attach the underside of her breast).

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 11: Zombina's joke on Darling-kun backfired

She had intended to play a joke on him, but it kinda backfired. Capture from the Blu Ray.

Only in Monster Musume would sewing a breast back on be a thing. But even that ecchi element showed that the tough Zombina appreciated being respected and seen as “normal.” So once again, I’m drawing hope from a fictional moment. I’ll take hope wherever I can find it!
