Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 8 Review – Quick Summary

In Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 8, “Everyday Life of Poor Health,” Miia reacted badly when Rachnera joined the household. Miia immediately saw that Rachnera had designs on Darling-kun, so she turned to her housemates for help. But Papi and Suu seemed to enjoy the web-hammock that Rachnera made for them, and Mero seemed to think she was some kind of crab. That left Centorea, but even she seemed to accept the newcomer. Or did she?

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 8: Rachnera thinks fast on her feet!

Rachnera wasted no time in asserting her position within the household. Capture from the Blu-ray.

Miia, as usual, made no effort to hide how she felt about Rachnera joining the household. Centorea, however, said she was completely fine about it, much to Miia’s frustration. Centorea was so fine with it, in fact, that she decided to shadow Darling-kun wherever he went.

Darling-kun tries to stand up after washing the dishes? Centorea was there. Darling-kun tries to walk down the hallway? Centorea was not only there with him, she practically pushed him through the wall. When he questioned her newfound assertiveness, she said he was her master, so of course she had to be by his side.

But not in the bathroom, which was where he was trying to go. Embarrassed, she jumped aside to wait outside the door. That is, until she heard a crash and a muffled scream. Slamming the door open, she found Rachnera had tied Darling-kun up with her web.

“Sorry, sorry,” she said, patting the still bound Darling-kun on the head (04:05). “Honey just rushed into the bathroom. I was so surprised, I accidentally tied him up.”

I had to admire Rachnera’s sheer nerve at telling such a transparent lie. She got bonus points when Centorea seemed to accept it!

Best in Show Moment for Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 8

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 8: Darling-kun tries to comfort Centorea.

It’s so quick, it’s easy to miss! Capture from the Blu-ray.

The moment when Rachnera and Centorea had their conversation about judging based on appearance sorely tempted me to pick it as my favorite moment. I would have been a good choice, too! It’s exactly the kind of thing that sets this show apart from its genre brethren.

But there was another brief moment that seemed to show something even better about this show. Something that I think elevates it not only within its genre, but in general. It was a quick, “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” moment, but it’s my favorite in the episode.

Remember when Rachnera tried to seduce Darling-kun – even using her webs to seal the door? And remember how Centorea sliced her way in so she could grab Darling-kun and make a run for it? Rachnera even said (05:26), “She might be more dangerous than I am!”

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls Episode 8: Rachnera realizes that Centorea can be quite dangerous.

Rachnera makes a good point. Capture from the Blu-ray.

At first, I thought it was just because Centorea didn’t want to lose out to Rachnera. And I think that was part of it. But the farther Centorea took Darling-kun away from the house, the more she berated herself for judging Rachnera based on appearance. She had practically driven herself into despondency. No matter what Darling-kun said, she kept berating herself.

Eventually, she stopped galloping, and Darling-kun slid off. As he stood beside her, listening, she said she was not a worthy representative of the Centaur race.

Did you see what Darling-kun did? If you look carefully, you can see him stroke her back (06:50). It was a small gesture of kindness, but it’s the kind of thing that makes this show so enjoyable. The main characters are kind to one another on an ongoing basis! Sure, they have their squabbles. But by and large, they’re good to each other. I really appreciate something like that, especially with the news being what it is.

What did you think of Suu’s solution to Darling-kun’s cold? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

  1. I really liked this show , s far as harem comedies , thr characters were pretty likable. Oh and I’ll have to look for it but this one cosplayer did an amazing job with Arachnea. She made a fiberglass spider body and dressed up and basically just took pics on the fiberglass spider . It was really cool.

    1. The characters made a big difference to me. I really like all of them.

The cosplay you described sounds great. The ingenuity and creativity of cosplayers amazes me. It’s one of those “some faith in humanity restored” kinda things!

Please let me know what you think!
