My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 Episode 19 – Quick Summary
In My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 Episode 19, “Capture Those Delicious Memories!,” Marin was having the best time bragging to her stylists and model friends about the plushie that Wakana had won for her. Things were going well – until the model manager dropped some bad news. Some very, very bad news. How will Marin respond? Can Wakana handle the implications? And why didn’t Nowa say anything – because she knew weeks or even months in advance!
Note: This post may include spoilers, so be cautious.
Favorite Quote from My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 Episode 19
Marin sometimes gets enthusiastic. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
One of Marin’s most endearing characteristics is her boundless enthusiasm. It’s like she has as much energy as my four year-old grandson, and that’s saying something. The little guy can run me ragged and keep going!
She saved up her money and bought a camera. It was a Canon, and they used the actual brand in the episode, so I’m sure some money or consideration was exchanged. It was a good deal for both: Canon makes a fine camera and Marin made it look good!
She later told Wakana about her selection process, which left the poor guy stunned. On one hand, she did something reasonable by asking a cosplay photographer she and Wakana knew: Suzuka Itou. On the other, she picked it because it was called the Kiss-M, and she considered “M” was for Marin.
But before she dropped that logic bomb on Wakan, she showed him all the camera’s features – in very excited tones, of course.
“It’s too epic! It’s so cool that I’ve basically won at life!” she said (15:28).
In this case, she didn’t just light up a room. She lit up the whole park! I love her enthusiasm.

Marin grapples with an unpleasant truth. And she doesn’t flinch! Much. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Setup: Yes, They Do Make ‘Em Like They Used To
Another episode of My Dress-Up Darling, another overload of favorite moments. In fact, there are so many choices that it reminds me of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Bet you didn’t see that comparison coming!
My wife and I happened to be flipping through channels this weekend. That never happens, except when we both catch colds at the same time. Otherwise, one or the other of us is in our office working on something or other. We found Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Remember the part where Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood say goodbye to Sallah? We watched from there to the end. We watched less than a quarter of the film. But there were more enjoyable moments and memorable lines than in most series – much less individual movies nowadays.
I’d argue that “It’s because those awesome undies were holding everything in” (08:27) was a very memorable line! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Remember “It’s not the years, it’s the mileage?” I’ll bet you do! It’s hard to forget.
I’m not making the case that they don’t make ‘em like they used to. Yes, I agree with Chris Fox when he says that modern movie makers have made some seriously disastrous dramatic/agenda decisions with Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, and other characters. Yes, those movies do not rise to the level of Raiders of the Lost Ark. That’s not my point.
My point is that we as a species have not lost the ability to create enjoyable, memorable moments. My point is that this series is evidence of that.
I enjoyed watching this episode as much as I enjoyed watching an equivalent runtime from Raiders of the Lost Ark. I don’t know how to put it any more plainly than that! This episode gave me so much that choosing a single moment is tough. Do I go with the climax, where Wakana and Marin frolic with each other in an impromptu photo shoot? Do I choose Marin shaking Nowa for a rare lapse of Nowa’s blunt banter?
Delivery: Marin Has Her Priorities Straight
I could. I loved those moments! But I’m going to choose a moment that is quintessential Marin. A perfect representation of who she is, as it were. I’m going to choose the moment she decided that gaining some weight might actually be a problem.
She was freaked out when her manager told her, of course (05:22). In a moment of profound honesty to herself (which is amazing, BTW!), she even told herself that (06:04), “…maybe I’m just the type that totally can’t tell when it’s myself.”
But she wasn’t freaked out. She was calm. The situation was under control. It was only when, a few seconds after being honest with herself, that she experienced a chilling thought. Sprinting home, she ripped off her clothes and tried to fit into the Shizuku Kuroe that she began to panic.
The outfit wouldn’t fit. She had gained too much weight to fit in.
Another moment where Marin faced the facts. That could not have been much fun! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
She tried on other costumes. They didn’t fit, either. Only when she tried on Veronica’s costume did she realized she’d gained weight in her belly (07:12). All the costumes that Wakana had created for her, except Veronica’s no longer fit.
The possibility of her losing her job as a model bothered her. But she only panicked when she realized she couldn’t fit into her cosplay costumes any more. Isn’t that just a perfect reflection of Marin’s character? She knows what’s important to her, and she acts accordingly. We can argue that maybe, just maybe, she should give some more weight to her job. But maybe not.
I really can’t find it in my heart to criticize her for following her dreams, after all!
What did you think about Marin gushing about the plushie that Wakana had won for her? What were your favorite moments? Feel free to share in the comments!

Marin is so adorable. I loved how she gushed about the plushie to everyone that would listen. I also loved the park scene and how Wakana seemed to capture her personality with the camera.
Her enthusiasm radiated from the screen, didn’t it? She’s such a breath of fresh air. The whole show is, truth be told.
That camera scene was also very cool. It’s like the camera gave Wakana just enough emotional distance for him to realize just how stunning Marin can be.
Now, if he can just generate enough confidence to think that maybe, just maybe, he has a chance with her…
But that’s part of the fun, isn’t it? Rooting for him to make that leap; rooting for her to make it easier for him!
