My Hero Academia Season 4 Episode Guide Part 1

Episode 64: The Scoop on U.A. Class 1-A

My Hero Academia s4 ep64 – The Heir

Welcome one and all. Today is a very special day for me. I have been looking forward to this season of My Hero Academia since…well the last episode of season 3, and I was actually a little guiddy. Not gonna lie. I haven’t been this excited about a new anime season in a while and I can’t quite explain it.

And you know what else I really enjoy? My weekly episode reviews with Crow. I always get a little nervous at season’s end that he’ll tell me he’s too busy to renew our collabship so I sort of avoid the question as long as possible. This time I thought for sure it would be it and then he goes, we could watch MHA? Wanna start it?

I think I said something along the lines of – Why sure my good chap, as always it will be an immeasurable pleasure to work with you and an honour to get the ball rolling. I’m pretty sure that’s what it was. Ok so my brain was just going Omergred SCORE!!This iz gonna be awsomecakes! But I must have typed that first thing…

Hummm.., Crow? Still here?

Episode 65: Overhaul

Review Of My Hero Academia S4 Ep65 – Laying The Groundwork For A Momentous Reorg

i everyone! Irina (from I Drink and Watch Anime) and I are glad you could join us for our review of Overhaul, the 65th episode of My Hero Academia. Last’s week’s creative take on a re-cap episode whet my appetite for new adventures staring Izuku MidoriyaTsuyu Asui, and the rest of the crew. Did this week’s episode deliver? We’ll find out in a minute, but first things first. There will likely be spoilers, and Irina’s in bold this week.

How was your week, Irina? Any opening thoughts on the episode?

My week was great. I hope it was just as great for you!

I did write down, how do Crow and I always manage to pick such bloody shows to watch? I mean even Zombieland Saga had some pretty harsh scenes. And now, My Hero Academia, which has always kept the gore and destruction off camera or implied starts of with one heck of a bang… Maybe it’s us?

Episode 66: Boy Meets…

My Hero Academia s4 ep66 – Looming Darkness

Halloween is just around the corner and although this episode of My Hero Academia may have seemed fairly cheerful on the surface, there is a darkness brewing that is slowly starting to weigh everything down…

I just hopped right into it there. Whew, must be getting excited. Sorry about that. I had another good but unreasonable busy week. How is it going on your end Crow?

“Unreasonably busy” is a really good way to put it. Glad we got through it! But I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned a brewing darkness. That last shot… But, we don’t want to get too far ahead! Oh, I’m bold, and yeah, we’ll have spoilers.

Episode 67: Fighting Fate

Review Of My Hero Academia S4 Ep67 – Disarming The Bomb And Twisting Fate

Hi everyone! Irina (from I Drink and Watch Anime) and I are back to review My Hero Academia season 4’s episode “Fighting Fate.” How was your week, Irina? Was it as cold in Canada as it was here in Ohio? We’re having temperatures more typical of January!

It’s coldish but nowhere near January temperatures. The internet tells me the last few days have been varying between 15 and 25F… does that make sense? January temperatures can drop to -40F with wind chill. Oh look at us… talking about the weather!

Minus 40F with wind chill? That’s cold…

As you can see, Irina’s bold this week. And there will be spoilers!

Episode 68: Let’s Go, Gutsy Red Riot

My Hero Academia s4 ep68 – I Want to Be Strong

I’ve never spoken about this before but did you guys know that Crow is the one that adds in all the links in these posts? Even when I’m the one hosting, Crow just goes through my paragraphs and adds all the relevant links without ever being asked and without ever even mentioning anything. He just sort of naturally does it. To help me out and give you all a better experience. Some people are like that. They gravitate towards helping whenever they can in any way they can. If the rest of us are lucky enough, we can meet someone like that. There’s a name for it…

Thank you Crow, I do appreciate these little things. I’m sorry it took me so long to say something.

You’re most welcome! I don’t even notice I’m doing it anymore; it’s kinda automatic. In the back of my mind, I worried that I was taking liberties with your text, which wasn’t at all what I intended to do! Glad it came across in the right spirit!

Oh, I’m bold, there will be spoilers, etc…

Episode 69: An Unpleasant Talk

Review Of My Hero Academia S4 Ep69 – A Contentious Meeting And Alone In The Dark

Hi everyone! Irina (from I Drink and Watch Anime) and I are back again, this time to review My Hero Academia season 4’s episode “An Unpleasant Talk.” It’s almost Thanksgiving here in the States, Irina. Didn’t Canada just celebrate Remembrance Day? Is that a major holiday? Though I guess it’s not celebrated everywhere in Canada…

Our thanksgiving is in October. Remembrance day is not exactly a major holiday, we don’t get a day off anymore and there’s not celebration as such, but we do raise money for veterans and pretty much everyone wears a poppy. So it is very widespread.

You probably picked up on this, but Irina’s bold this week. I am! And there will be spoilers! Not many; it’s not a spoiler-rific episode. Still, we want to make sure you expect any surprises that may come your way. Which doesn’t make sense if I think too hard about it.

This episode had one small part, a big part, and a small part. I’d characterize them as “Really Good Anticipation,” “Generally Better than the Meetings I Have to Attend,” and “I’m Sure I’ll Recover from That.”

Episode 70: GO!!

My Hero Academia s4 ep70 – With a Little Help From My Friends

Hello everyone. Hi Crow! I hope you had a great week!

Been a pretty good weekend! Busy, as usual. Another week of good anime, though.

Before we start, let me just say, I’ve been trying to keep my episode reviews a bit more concise because they were getting way out of control. I hope you don’t mind if I streamline this one a little. I find that it helps me keep my focus and not get too scattered.

Well, to be honest, I’m feeling a little trepidation. I really like your usual style! But, I’m game to experiment. Let’s try the whole concise thing.

Episode 71: Suneater of the Big Three

Review Of My Hero Academia S4 Ep71 – A Tough Decision And Those Are Bad Odds

Hey, everyone! Hey, Irina (from I Drink and Watch Anime, but everyone already knows that, don’t they?). How’s your week been, Irina? We actually had a few sunny days just south of the Great Lakes. Don’t know how to react to that!

It’s clearly winter here. There may have been sunny days but since the sun rises at – I dunno, 10 or something and sets at 4, I don’t really get to see it much. It’s relaxing though! I’m still in the way too much work mode, but I’m seeing light at the end of the tunnel. And I’m glad to have a bit of weekend time for good friends and anime!

Last week, Irina tried to make her “episode reviews a bit more concise.” Well, I enjoyed reading both styles, which was a huge relief! However, she reminded me of a quote I’d read that went something like, “Sorry for writing such a long letter. I didn’t have time to make it shorter!” The challenge is to be concise and not lose meaning. So, challenge accepted! I’ll try to be more concise, too.

I say this as I’m writing longer and longer sentences…

Episode 72: Red Riot

My Hero Academia s4 ep72 – They Got Me Again

It’s so weird to think many shows are ending right now. I feel like My Hero Academia just started. I say that in a good way! Oops I started off a post in the middle of a thought again. Sorry about that guys. I’m finishing up the last of my Christmas shopping and I’m on a present high!

Let’s try to start this off right. Crow how are you doing?

I’m doing well, thanks for asking. Just about done with my Christmas shopping, too. It’s a good feeling to get that done! I feel really lucky this year: both my wife and my son told me exactly what they want! That’s almost like a gift in an of itself!

Oh, I’m bold this week and there will likely be spoilers.

Episode 73: Temp Squad

Review Of My Hero Academia S4 Ep73: Dissent In The Ranks And Someone’s Got A Long Game

Hi, everyone! Hi, Irina from I Drink and Watch Anime! Surprisingly, we’ve had bright and sunny weather down here in the states. If I wasn’t suspicious that Mother Nature’s going to make us pay for this later, I’d be enjoying it a lot more! How’s the weather been in Canada?

It was -35 on Thursday. Wait, let me look that up. Ok that -31F. I thought the conversion would be more dramatic. That sort of fizzled out. Anywho, winter has finally started. It’s going to get colder from here on out but it’s been chilly!

Chilly? -31F is way outside my comfort range! I don’t think I’ve ever been in a free air temperature below -10 before. You Canadians have some serious constitutions!

My Hero Academia Season 4 episode 73, “Temp Squad,” gave some developments that look important. It wrapped up Fat Gum and Eijirou Kirishima’s battle against Kendo Rappa and Hekiji Tengai, which started in the previous episode, and the post fight conversation took a completely different path than I expected. We get re-introduced to one of my favorite villains, and it looks like she hasn’t lost a bit of her wicked delight in her villainy. Finally, we find out something that I found absolutely terrifying about a major villain  — something that has long-ranging implications not only for our heroes, but for Overhaul as well. Before we dive in, do you have any opening thoughts, Irina?

Episode 74: Lemillion

My Hero Academia s4 ep74 – The Heart of a Hero

It occurs to me that I have no sense of seasonal orientation when it comes to this season of My Hero Academia. Other series seem to be ending so the season must be close to an end, yet I still feel like we’re in the opening episodes. That can be either a good or a bad thing. Still, to me, it’s like season 4 of My Hero Academia is still in its opening arc. Crow, do you get what I mean?

It’s funny you ask — I was just wondering about that today. For the other shows I’m reviewing, I’m preparing to close out the season and write the episode guides. For this one? It’s like it’s beyond mere seasons… Which, of course, is a hopelessly hyperbolic thing to day. Oh, I’m bold this week, there will be spoilers, and such…

And no shock — but you were right. Horribly, horribly right. Unless you think we should put this sentence later, since it’s pretty momentous and it might be better for later…

k, I said it could be a good or a bad thing…for me, it’s usually a good thing. Opening arcs and intros are often my favourite part of the story. I was that weird kid that really loved the Harry Potter series before he even learned of the existence of Hogwarts. I loved it after as well, but those early Dursley days have a special place in my heart.

I assume a season’s worth of buildup could be frustrating for some viewers but I’m eating it up…

Episode 75: Unforeseen Hope

Review Of My Hero Academia S4 Ep75: His Upper Limit And A Very Strong Resolve

appy New Year, everyone! Irina from I Drink and Watch Anime and I are happy to bring you our review of My Hero Academia Season 4 episode 75, “The Unforeseen Hope.” We pick right up where the previous episode left off, with, of course, a few minutes of overlap just in case we forgot everything in a week.

Happy New Year, Irina! I hope you had a good holiday!

I did, thank you so much Crow. I may have overindulged a bit. I’m gonna need to get back to a much healthier lifestyle is I want to get my stamina back up. I’ve been napping a lot. But it was really great to take a little break!

Before we get this show on the road, do you have any opening thoughts?

I got to say, My Hero Academia sure loves to break its darlings. It was never gentle with its characters, but it seems really rough this season. I sort of want just a filler episode going around the school seeing what the students who don’t have internships are up to. Maybe they are struggling with homework or putting on a school play. Maybe Mina is a bit worried for Kirishima cause she still sees him as a bit of a weak goofball. I’m just saying that a little breather would be welcomed.

Episode 76: Infinite 100%

My Hero Academia s4 ep76 – The Impossible

Hello everyone! Welcome back! I bought a Switch a few days ago and just started Fire Emblem last night. Needless to say I’m tired and eager to go back to it! So far it’s really fun. How are you Crow?

Wanting a Switch! I use a PC for gaming, and Fire Emblem isn’t available on it. Bummer. Otherwise, I’m fine. It’s about 60 degrees Fahrenheit here (around 15 Celsius), and I don’t know whether to enjoy it or dread what’s coming next — the inevitable tumble!

Just for the record, I’m bold this week, and there will be spoilers.

I’ve been hearing grumblings about this season of My Hero Academia. I don’t know the details but I do get it. It’s very different from previous seasons and it sure has been having a great time beating up on our heroes. But you know, this season has had me consistently tearing up. Sure, some of it is crass sentimentality and emotional manipulation, but it’s well paced, expertly crafted crass sentimentality and emotional manipulation. And gosh if I haven’t been enjoying it. If I had binged season 4 (which I still might) I think it would have been even better!
