My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 123 – Quick Summary

In My Hero Academia Season 6 episode 123, “The Ones Within Us,” Katsuki Bakugou had saved Izuku Midoriya/Deku from Tomura Shigaraki/All for One’s attack. Now, as he fell towards the ground, Midoriya had to choose. Did he let his friend fall to his death? Did he re-engage Tomura? Or would that be a bad idea? Because having survived Enji Todoroki/Endeavor’s Prominence Burn, Tomura looked very much alive – and capable of stealing Deku’s quirk One for All. And if that were to happen, the heroes might not be able to recover.

Favorite Quote from My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 123

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 123: Even dangerously wounded, Katsuki kept his edge

Even when skewered, Katsuki maintained a certain level of snark. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

My favorite moment from the previous episode was all about Katsuki’s sacrifice. That moment still gives me chills when I think about it. I should not have been in the least bit surprised with Katsuki decided that one accolade wasn’t enough. Of course, he wanted to claim my favorite quote of this episode!

And you know what? He earned it. Just like he earned being my favorite moment last week.

In this episode, Deku couldn’t even speak when he saw what Katsuki had done for him – and what it had cost. Before Midoriya could master his speech, Katsuki told him in a scolding (though agonized) voice (02:36), “D-Don’t try… to win by yourself…”

I think it’s a good sign that he can maintain his attitude even under adverse conditions.

Favorite Moment from My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 123

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 123: Midoriya was seriously pissed off

Midoriya has had enough. And I don’t blame him! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

Some of my favorite fiction takes a character, pushes them to the edge of their endurance, then kicks them over that edge. This week, we got to see Deku take the plunge. And, wow, was it badass.

It helps that I’m so used to seeing the kid get all beat up, that any real power-up is a contrast. I still grin when I think about him using Eri as a Backpack of Power. But in this episode, we got the power – fueled by pure rage.

Tomura/All for One taunted Midoriya after the fall of Katsuki. He even tried to say that what he was about to do – skewer Midoriya as he had skewered Katsuki – wasn’t necessary. That’s when Deku snapped. Even though he heard one of the previous wielders of One for All warn him against giving in to his anger, Deku just cut loose.

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 123: Deku had had enough of All for One's mouth

Deku had had enough of All for One’s mouth. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

He punched Tomura’s first attack into dust – even with his shattered arms. Then, in a fit of mindless rage, he threw himself against his attacker.

And crushed the attack in his teeth.

The dude took Tomura/All for One’s attack and bit through it (03:41).

It was a stupid move. It put him within touching distance of an enemy who can steal Quirks. But it was so badass and so visceral that I couldn’t not respond to it. In the context of a shōnen demographic, that’s about as good as it gets.

Almost.
