My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 138 – Quick Summary
In My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 138, “No Man Is an Island,” Chizome Akaguro/Stain saw Toshinori Yagi/All Might head off on his own. Where was All Might going? He was going to retrieve Izuku Midoriya/Deku’s discarded face mask. He found it in front of the All Might statue. Hero-haters had hung a sign around its neck, and the sign said, “He Is Not Here.” Lost in the misery of his own thoughts, All Might did not hear Stain’s approach. What does Stain want with All Might? Why did he track the hero down? And will Deku ever take a bath?

Favorite Quote from My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 138
Stain, considered a villain, might have just scored the biggest strike against All for One this entire season! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Stain understands the world better than All Might. At least, better than Despairing All Might. He proved it in my favorite quote.
The subplot where Stain wanted to track down All Might to give him critical information was a smart way to get the info to All Might. It was also a great character moment. Stain had no idea how emaciated All Might had become. Nor did he know about All Might’s despair. He had tracked the car he thought belonged to All Might, but then he heard the scrawny figure berate himself for not helping Deku.
Stain took issue with All Might looking around the devastation and lamenting that all his efforts had produced this result.
“Results?!” he spat (03:50). “This is a process! The buried embers that he left behind stand up to the wind and rain, getting passed among a few people, and is developing into a new, large fire! So, we cannot let that fire go out.”
Stain, the villain who had killed 40 heroes, was the one to set All Might back on the right track. I would say that’s ironic, but given this show’s message and themes? It’s apropos!
Favorite Moment from My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 138
Jiro has thought a lot about their situation. And she has an idea of how to improve it. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Before I get into my favorite moment, can we just acknowledge the gusto with which the men of Class A washed Deku? About the only one who didn’t participate was Katsuki Bakugou/Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight. He apologized a couple of episodes ago, but the apology didn’t change his nature. Which is kind of comforting, truth be told.
I was tempted to name All Might’s re-dedication to being a hero as my favorite moment. But in some ways, that would be looking backward. Let’s look forwards instead. Even in doing so, we have to acknowledge what Stain said is right. All Might ignited a fire in those around him. That fire burns brightly in Kyouka Jirou/Earphone Jack.
She had reflected on how many in the crowd/mob still didn’t accept them. That reminded her of a time back in episode 86, when they had put on a concert. The goal had been not only to perform, but to bring the student body together – some of whom didn’t like Class A.
Jiro remembered how she had approached solving a similar situation before. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Now, inspired by that memory, mindful of the crowd that Ochako Uraraka/Uravity had helped calm down, she pulled everyone together. She wanted to get everyone moving in the same direction.
“Let’s not just get it back,” she said, using her earphone jacks to pull her friends closer to her (12:52). It was cute seeing Denki Kaminari/Chargebolt looking so embarrassed! “Let’s make things better than before. Let’s all go together — go beyond!”
We got youthful exuberance, the benefit of experience, and the Plus Ultra thing – all in a single exhortation! That’s some good word economy right there. It’s a great place for Deku and his friends to end season 6. After what they went through, it’d good they’re back together and all on the same page. They’re going to need that unanimity very, very soon.
What did you think of All Might’s perception of his impact? What were your favorite moments in the episode? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
