Quick Summary of My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X Episode 3
In My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X Episode 3, “I Was Captured…,” Catarina Claes woke up in a strange bed, which she learned was in a strange house. A new maid, Lana, helpfully said that she would now attend to all of Catarina’s needs. Even Catarina realized this was not her beautiful house. The situation got even more complicated when Selena entered and confirmed that Catarina had been kidnapped — based on Selena’s own plans! Will Catarina cleverly try to look for ways to escape — or will the delicious sweets and new romance novels Lana gives her distract her? What her Gerald do to get his betrothed home safely? And who will be first out of the door to search for Catarina — Mary, Sophia, or Maria? And just why the heck would Selena orchestrate a kidnapping?

Someone kidnapped Catarina! In this shot, you can see her enduring terribly harsh treatment! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Some nefarious person kidnapped Catarina! She feels reluctant to believe her captors won’t mistreat her until she makes a bold request for sweets. Her temporary maid provided all of the sweets she could eat! Are they planning on giving Catarina so much food that she’ll become indolent and unable to escape? Are they trying to lure her into a false sense of security?
Or are they simply trying to make her forget she’s been kidnapped? Surely Catarina wouldn’t fall for such a trick!

Jeffrey had a very suspicious smile after Geordo left his vicinity, and it reeked of self-satisfaction. Meanwhile, Rufus, the dark magic user, indicated his objective is to get remove Prince Ian and Prince Geordo from the picture, which suggests he is working to support Jeffrey, who might be the true mastermind behind the kidnapping. Raphael, who now works for the Department of Magic, seems confident that eventually they will be able to rescue Catarina and that she is fine, which suggests that the Department of Magic might already have an eye on Jeffrey and Rufus and might be waiting to gather the necessary evidence to implicate them.
I remember Jeffrey’s smile. The scenario you just described sounds plausible; I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you’re right.
If so, the show’s leaning a little harder into complex politics than I expected! If they play it for laughs, it could be great! Like Irina mentioned in the main review, if the show tries to be serious about politics, I’m not sure how that’ll work.
