Episode 1: or not to [B]e
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 1, “or not to [B]e,” YoRHa 2-gou B-gata, otherwise known as 2B, descended as part of her attack group to engage the machine lifeforms infesting the Earth. But during the descent, they came under heavy fire. First, she had to assume command because the attack killed her leader. Then she was the only survivor. Does she have any hope of achieving her mission? Exactly what is she after? And how far is she willing to go to get it?
Episode 2: city e[S]cape
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 2, “city e[S]cape,” Lily led her band of human resistance fighters against the Machine Lifeforms infesting Japan. They had to fight hard for every scrap of equipment and supplies, and the odds were slowly crushing her and her team. Then a wave of Machine Lifeforms attacked. Can she keep her team alive while they retreat? Or will this be her last command? And where are 2B and 9S?
Episode 3: break ti[M]e
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 3, “break ti[M]e,” Lily allowed 2B and 9S to enter the resistance’s camp. There, they met Jackass, a scientist/information broker who desperately wanted to disassemble even a portion of 9S. It came as no surprise that 9S politely declined. 2B and 9S needed to investigate an abnormality in the desert, and Jackass went with them. Has Jackass figured out 2B and 9S aren’t there to help them? What will she do? And what’s blocking 2B and 9S’s communications?
Episode 4: a mountain too [H]igh
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 4, “a mountain too [H]igh,” 2B and 9S survived their initial encounter with the machine lifeforms Adam and Eve. But they still had no idea just what Adam and Eve were, or what they meant for the future of the conflict. Now, they received orders to investigate one of the brethren who had disappeared – but whose black box still sent a signal. What happened to that soldier? Can they follow the signal to its source? And will Jackass ever stop trying to disassemble 9S?
Episode 5: mave[R]ick
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 5, “mave[R]ick,” Lily asked the two visiting YoRHa soldiers, 2B and 9S, to do something unprecedented. At least, 9S thought it was so. Lily asked them to deliver supplies! For an android who was supposedly without emotion, 9S complained a lot about the mission. But his complaints only got more strident when he found out to whom they were delivering the supplies. Will 9S be able to stomach such a mission? Will 2B be able to smooth things over? And did Jackass try to disassemble or otherwise harass 9S in this episode?
Episode 6: [L]one wolf
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 6, “[L]one wolf,” Lily, 2B, and 9S embarked on a mission to improve their anti-machine lifeform sensors. One of the sensors developed a glitch. While 9S attempted to repair it, Lily decided to disclose her past to 2B – a past in which someone who looked very much like 2B played a part. Why is Lily so conflicted about 2B? What does she remember from her past? And can 9S keep his sensor network running for more than five minutes?
Episode 7: [Q]uestionable actions
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 7, “[Q]uestionable actions,” 2B and 9S had received no update to their orders. That made 9S think something suspicious was going on. 2B might have agreed, but she kept her observations to herself. Then they saw Pascal chasing a distraught machine lifeform. Apparently, that machine lifeform’s little sister had gone missing – and she and Pascal wanted 2B and 9S to help! Of course, 9S adamantly refused – right before Pascal’s begging and the machine lifeform’s tantrums convinced 2B to say yes. Where did the little sister go? Why were 2B and 9S suddenly finding so many dead machine lifeforms? And were 9s’s suspicions valid?
Episode 8: aji wo [K]utta ?
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 8, “aji wo [K]utta ?,” 2B and 9S reported their sighting of A2 to the Commander. The Commander flatly declined to answer 9S’s questions about A2. Instead, she ordered 2B and 9S to locate and “investigate” A2. 2B and 9S began their search with Lily. 2B could immediately tell that Lily’s answers were evasive. Can 2B figure out why? Will 9S discover why the Commander wouldn’t answer his questions? And why did Jackass go fishing – in a bikini?
Episode 9: hun[G]ry for knowledge
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 9, “hun[G]ry for knowledge,” 9S found himself in an abstract geometric environment. He assumed it was cyberspace, but he could not be sure. Faced with an ever-expanding number of doors, he soon despaired of finding his way out. And then a figure came to visit him – a figure he had met before. Who was this strange individual? What did it want from 9S? And can 2B find a way to extract 9S from that strange place?
Episode 10: over[Z]ealous

In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 10, “over[Z]ealous,” 2B watched as a shuttle took 9S back to the Bunker for repairs. That’s when Commander White gave 2B new orders – orders that on the surface, appeared not only impossible – but suicidal. Of course, 2B decided to try to follow the orders, but even with 9S’ Pod helping her, what chance does she have? And how will Adam react to what happened to Eve?
Episode 11: head[Y] battle
In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 11, “head[Y] battle”, the Machine Lifeforms seemed to have gone mad after Eve’s fall. They launched al all-out assault against the Android outposts. A strange new type of Machine Lifeforms had appeared – fast, brutal, and hungry. Commander White ordered a wide-scale deployment, but there were so many battles that 2B was left on her own. Can she get to Lily and Jackass in time?

In NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 12, “flowers for m[A]chines,” 2B and 9S had barely survived Adam’s onslaught. But even as they tried to help Lily and the other members of the resistance treat their wounded, they received terrible news: scanners still registered Adam’s presence! So 2B and 9S had to descend with their pods into the crater that Adam’s crash created. Can 9S keep going, since he’s missing some important parts? What did the scanners pick up? And will Commander White get away with using the laser – without authorization?
