Twenty-eighth week of 2018 edition!
This is a Crow’s eye view of the posts that caught my attention this week. Typically, they’ll be posts that celebrate some aspect of anime, like strong characters, intricate plots, or amazing worlds.
There are only two rules:
- I have to find the site to read it. I publish a list of the sites I review every week, so please do look for your site! If you don’t see it, I’d love for you to mention your site in the comments.
- Your post had to have been published during the last seven days (or so)
Remember, you can find a list of the sites I check every week here.
There’re a lot of good posts in the anime space. I hope this article helps you find some of them!
100 Word Anime
Inquiring Minds Want To Know #25
While our community writes a healthy number of posts containing blogging tips every week, it’s usual to see an uptick between seasons. Some really insightful posts come out then, like this post from 100 Word Anime. That blog puts out an impressive number of reviews each week — I mean, really impressive! I’ve often wondered how, and this article provides some interesting insights. If you’d like to compare your techniques to an established blogger, or if you’re just curious what kind of process fuels such productivity, this article is for you!
Anime Evo
Harukana Receive – 02
If you haven’t seen Harukana Receive but you have seen its previews, you might be under the impression that it’s just a fan service-heavy show about girls playing beach volley ball in bikinis. Now, I won’t dispute that impression. The show is heavy on fan service, but I’d argue it’s high-class fan service that celebrates beauty more than anything else. But the show’s more than that. A lot more! This post from Anime Evo presents a fun, compelling case for the show’s characters and drama.
I Drink and Watch Anime
Top 5 Things I Learned From my First Year of Aniblogging
To continue the theme of blogging tips, some posts focus on the nuts and bolts of blogging. In those kinds of posts, you can learn about search engine optimization (SEO), selecting the right WordPress theme, or generating new ideas for posts. Those are enormously helpful! But there are other blogging tips posts that employ a more self-reflective approach. This post from I Drink and Watch Anime goes in that direction, and its insights give you different take on the blogging process. I don’t want to give anything away, because I want you get get the full impact of the article.
The Infinite Zenith
Believe in Me: Harukana Receive Episode Two Impressions and Review
It’s theme week here at Crow’s World of Anime’s Other Posts to Crow About! I mentioned earlier that while Harukana Receive is heavy on fan service, there’s a lot more to the show than just that. Turns out, there’s even more than I’d caught on to, as this post from The Infinite Zenith demonstrates. Did you know that using the landmarks in the backgrounds, you can triangulate exactly where the young women play volleyball? And that’s not all! You’ll need to read the article to find out what else is going on.
Mechanical Anime Reviews
Possibly Unknown Free Streaming Services
The premium streaming services like Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, and Funimation offer a great selection and solid performance. But there are times where they aren’t options. Maybe they don’t carry a series you want to watch in your country. Maybe you don’t have the spare funds to afford them. Whatever the reason, there are times you would like a legal alternative. This post from Mechanical Anime Reviews is a great survey of what’s available. Check them out — you might be surprised at the selection!
Season 1 Episode 1
Summer 2018 First Impressions – Planet With
You know how sometimes you watch an episode of a new series like Planet With, and you wonder, “Was that really interesting, or did I misinterpret everything and it’s really stupid?” I’m not saying I need help with forming my opinions. I generate those without even knowing it! No, I’m talking about interpreting the craft of story telling. Sometimes, it’s useful to get an insightful perspective from the community. Season 1 Episode 1 has a post with just that kind of viewpoint. While sharing a common view isn’t necessarily the hallmark of accuracy, I know I feel better about Planet With after reading this article!
Awww, thank you so much. Being next to these awesome people is always shocking :D.
LOL! Tell me about it. I feel awkward about promoting a lot of these posts — kinda like a high school rock band promoting Rush or something!
Thanks for the share and I’m glad you enjoyed the post.
