Other Posts to Crow About – 2018 Week 29 Edition

Twenty-ninth week of 2018 edition!

This is a Crow’s eye view of the posts that caught my attention this week. Typically, they’ll be posts that celebrate some aspect of anime, like strong characters, intricate plots, or amazing worlds.

There are only two rules:

  • I have to find the site to read it. I publish a list of the sites I review every week, so please do look for your site! If you don’t see it, I’d love for you to mention your site in the comments.
  • Your post had to have been published during the last seven days (or so)

Remember, you can find a list of the sites I check every week here

There’re a lot of good posts in the anime space. I hope this article helps you find some of them!

100 Word Anime

Tuesday’s Top 5: Female Anime Characters With Pink Hair

I used to joke that good lists were hard to write. I still think they are, but this ani-blogging community cranks them out like clock-work, in essence making the difficult appear easy. That’s real skill! So, what makes a list not only good and fun, but exciting?  For me, it’s when the list reminds me of powerful moments in shows that moved me. And wouldn’t you know it? This list from 100 Word Anime, in its list of 5 pink-haired female anime characters, hit the bullseye four times — and only because I haven’t seen the show for position 4 yet! And number 1? I still can’t hear an acoustic guitar get bumped without pausing in my stride to remember the show… I won’t ruin the list for you you — you should go read it for yourself!

I Drink and Watch Anime

Does Anime Have A Moral Responsibility?

I don’t think I’ve ever made it a secret that I like a good moral discussion. Just read my reviews of Concrete Revolutio Season 1! (No, really, please — read them — they’re not bad!) This post from I Drink and Watch Anime is a great conversation about whether or not anime has any kind of moral responsibility to its audience and to its genre to present topics in any particular way. And do you know what makes a fascinating post even better? A lively comment section! And boy, does this post have a lively comment section!

Plyasm’s wormhole

First impressions: Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san

When an anime series adapts a manga, I’m always curious about how the two works compare. This article from Plyasm’s wormhole answers the kind of questions I would have. For example, how is the pacing between the two mediums different? Are the characters comparable? And most importantly, is the fan service more or less restrained? I’m asking for a friend… Want to know the answers? Then you’ll need to read the article!

Random Curiosity

Planet With — 02

One of the reasons I picked Planet With to review this season is that I had a hunch that the randomness and misleading clues were intentional and would eventually make sense. But sad to say, it was only a hunch. Then I read this post from Random Curiosity! I’ve always been impressed with the depth and breadth of the analysis from this site, and this article is a great concrete example of detailed research based on facts of the anime industry — facts I have little access to outside of this site! And I’m not featuring this article just because it agreed with me!
