Other Posts to Crow About – 2018 Week 48 Edition

Forty-eighth week of 2018 edition!

This is a Crow’s eye view of the posts that caught my attention this week. Typically, they’ll be posts that celebrate some aspect of anime, like strong characters, moments of beauty, or amazing worlds.

There are only two rules:

  1. I have to find the site to read it. I publish a list of the sites I review every week, so please do look for your site! If you don’t see it, I’d love for you to mention your site in the comments so I can add it to the list!
  2. Your post had to have been published during the last seven days (or so)

Remember, you can find a list of the sites I check every week here

There’re a lot of good posts in the anime blogsphere. I hope this article helps you find some of them!

Inquiring Minds Want To Know #41: If you could live in one world which would you choose?

“What if” questions are fun. We often see quick polls on Twitter that ask what kind of anime world people would want to visit (or whether they’d prefer an anime character visiting them in our world). This post from 100 Word Anime asks that seemingly simple question, and the answer might surprise you — but probably not as much as the reasons for not choosing four of the other leading contenders!

Anime Q and A

OGRE-REACTING – ‘THAT TIME I GOT REINCARNATED AS A SLIME’ EPISODE 9 REVIEW

Have you been enjoying “That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime” this season? I have! In particular, I like its upbeat tone — wherever the Rimuru the Slime goes, that world tends to get a little better. The humor’s gentle for the most part, and when the show veers into dramatic moments, they’re really effective. That sounds all high-minded and literary like, doesn’t it? Well, this review of the show from Anime Q and A reminded me of another reason I really like this show — Shion the Ogre! Who’s that, you ask? Check out this article to find out. I’ll give you a hint: Not since Tionishia have I been so looking forward to meeting an ogre.

Beneath the Tangles

Iida Tenya and Learning to Lose Control

Remember in My Hero Academia 2 when Tenya Iida learned of his older brother’s incapacitation at the hands of the villain Stain? This post from Beneath the Tangles remembers — in vivid detail! This series has way more than its share of amazing moments, but even against that backdrop, Tenya confronting Stain is memorable. This post talks about what that moment means, not only to the characters, but to the writer — and by extension, to us, too. Great literature lends itself to this kind of discussion, and I think the quality of such conversations (like the one in the linked article!) says something about this show.

Getting Up Early

Grimgar VS SAO: Early Promises and The Delivery

It’s no secret that I like Sword Art Online (and that I think both Lisbeth and and Sinon need way more screen time). I’ve also spoken well of Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions, especially in terms of how it dealt with the characters’ reactions to their plight and events within the story. What I never thought to do is look at how both SAO and Grimgar compared in terms to what they promised, then what they delivered. I came away with a better appreciate for both stories after reading this post from Getting Up Early! The insights offered interesting, and so is the way they’re presented!

Season 1 Episode 1

Aniblog Feature – Crow’s World of Anime

You could have knocked me over with a feather (pun intended!) when I came across this post from Season 1 Episode 1! I have a vision for this blog, and I really want to get across a specific point of view. But I can’t just keep beating people over the head with it! If I try that, who would want to read my stuff? But I can’t say nothing, or what’s the point? I was very happy to read this article, because it showed that Season 1 Episode 1 saw what I was trying to do! Not only that, but the verdict was that my goal didn’t suck! Do you know how cool is that? Well, there’s only one way to find out, and that’s to read the article!

    1. Me, too! I enjoyed how personal the post was. I’ve kinda missed those kind of literary discussions — makes me recall _some_ of my college days fondly! And I don’t mean the post was overly academic! Quite the contrary…

Please let me know what you think!
