Quick Summary
In Fruits Basket episode 9, “Yuki Was My First Love,” Yuki Souma is coming down with a cold. Tooru Honda is beside herself with worry and she begs him to stay home, but Kyou Souma won’t hear of it: There’s a long-distance run tomorrow, and he’s bound and determined to beat Yuki. Will Yuki’s cold flare up during the run? Will Saki Hanajima run more than a single step? And who’s the white-haired Souma that Tooru mistook for a collapsed old man?

Best Moment in the Show: Yuki-Kun
I think the slight pause between Tooru saying “Yuki-kun” and him realizing what she had said was what made the scene so humorous. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.
Seriously, how I can chose a single best moment from this episode? There are least a dozen, and Saki accounts for six of them! Well, I made my bed, so I might as well lie in it. This episode introduced us to a new Souma family member, Hatsuharu “Haru” Souma. He’s the embodiment of the ox in the Chinese Zodiac. After Yuki had collapsed from his cold (and a traumatic memory), Haru intentionally hugged Tooru so he could transform and carry Yuki home (and the shot of the kids happily following the “cow” as Kyou tried to shoo them off was another candidate for best moment!).
Yuki was asleep while Haru and Tooru looked on. Haru had been commenting about how much more relaxed and happy Kyou and particularly Yuki seemed, and Haru suggested it was Tooru’s influence. Well, if you know Tooru at all, then you know that the only thing that exceeds her OP powers of goodness is her humility, and she denied it vigorously. So Haru came up with a test, which he whispered to her and we didn’t get to hear right away.
Yuki woke up and wondered how he had gotten home (21:00). The three of them bantered, and Tooru seemed a little uncomfortable. We found out why when she ended a sentence with “Yuki-kun” instead of “Souma-san,” which is what she usually used.
For a second, Yuki didn’t notice. Then he did (27:28). His eyes went wide. He blushed furiously. Weakened by his cold, the shock made him transform into an equally blushing rat!
Tooru, of course, interpreted it was a comment on her lack of influence. Haru knew better; so did Yuki.
And so did we!

Tooru’s kindness is just an unstoppable force! It’s so easy to remain strong against attacks; but kindness sneaks right past defenses!
What a cute scene!
I did so laugh at Saki accumulating card players to the chagrin of the teacher.
From her feigning weakness so she couldn’t run, to her running rough shod over everyone at cards, Saki was amazing. As usual.
Watching how the teacher reacted to her was part of the fun!
The blushing rat was the cutest.
