Review of: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 8 – Vindictively of course

It’s Irina’s turn (from I Drink and Watch Anime!) to host our weekly collaboration review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba. In episode 8, “The Smell of Enchanting Blood,” we find out what happened to Tanjiro after his first encounter with the arch demon Muzan Kibutsuji. How in the world will Tanjiro handle that meeting — and the knowledge that the demon who had destroyed his family has a family of his own?

How can Tanjiro reconcile the image of the demon who destroyed his family — and this image of a doting father and devoted husband? How can we? Capture from the Crunchyroll stream. 

With a build up like that, it’d be easy for the show to fumble. We’ve all seen it before! The fantastic setup, the great pacing, the shocking reveal. Then, thud. Did Demon Slayer fall victim to its own cleverness? Will Tanjiro find a dramatically plausible way out of this mess? Find out what Irina and I thought about this episode on I Drink and Watch Anime!
