Review of The Promised Neverland Episode 9 – Back Rank Mate

I’m beginning to think Irina (of I Drink and Watch Anime fame!) and I should get hazard pay for reviewing this series! The end of the last episode was nerve-wracking in its intensity and the implications for Emma, Norman, Ray, Don, Gilda, and the other kids. So I’m thinking, okay, their plans are in ruins. Now what?

At the end of episode 8, I thought I knew how Gilda felt. By the end of this episode? Let’s just say the episode taught me how naive I really was! Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

This week, it’s Irina’s turn to host our collaborative review on I Drink and Watch Anime. You should really watch the episode before you read the review, not just because there are spoilers (there are!), but because this episode contains some sublime moments that you really want to experience first hand. In a “rip your heart out and oh, that’s what despair feels like” sort of way!

The Promised Neverland spent the first seven episodes setting up moments like this. They are emotionally devastating. Capture from the Crunchyroll stream.

So please watch the episode, then head over to I Drink and Watch Anime to share the experience with us

  1. I forgot to tell you this before, but your link for the fourth episode actually leads to Crunchyroll not your blog.

Not that I blame you for being shaken by this show :joy:

Please let me know what you think!
