Review: One Punch Man Episode Season 2 Episode 05 – Best in Show

Quick Summary

In One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 05 (a.k.a., episode 17), "The Martial Arts Tournament," while Saitama good-naturedly endures slights and scorns from some of the martial arts contestants, Centichoro continues his rampage. But Centichoro is not alone. Score of other monsters have attacked the cities simultaneously, and the Hero Association finds itself on its heels. Can Metal Bat defeat Garou so he can get back to the Dragon class monster Centichoro? Or will he fall, like every other hero? Most importantly, will we finally get to see Saitama in action?

Best Moment in the Show

Gotta give Fubuki credit for making a grand, timely entrance! Capture from the Hulu stream

This probably says way more about me than either a) I want to divulge or b) you want to know, but my favorite moment in episode 5/17 is an entrance. Through the whole show, we've seen hero after hero pummeled. Many went down because they couldn't get backup, which was particularly sad. We finally come to a scene where Super S (Do-S) is using her whip to destroy four heroes at once. She wields some kind of sadomasochist power -- anyone she defeats fights on her behalf in the hopes of getting more attention from her (19:14).

No, her mere presence isn't my favorite moment! I certainly have no complaints, but my favorite moment came when she launched what she intended to be her final attack on the last remaining hero. As she launched her finishing attack on the last standing hero, her whip froze in mid air. Do you remember which hero had psychokinetic powers? Trick question! There are two, and they're sisters. Only one showed up, but she was enough: Fubuki showed up and turned the tide (19:47). She had presence, she had class, she had grace; and she seemed to have much more confidence after hanging out with Saitama for a few episodes!

We didn't get to see the end of the battle, but my money's on Fubuki.
